On January 24 LOEWE will open a new store in Jakarta. Located in the landmark Pacific Place Mall in the heart of the Sudirman Central Business District, the 183 sqm space will present a full offering of women’s ready-to-wear, bags, small leather goods, shoes, soft accessories, eyewear and belts.

Taking its cue from creative director Jonathan Anderson’s CASA LOEWE concept, the store combines the refinement of retail with the elegance and intimacy of an art collector’s home. A beautifully crafted green ceramic façade greets customers, these handmade tiles recurthroughout the interior in a series of verdant and silver shades. Other materials deployed include marble, oak, brass, turned iron and concrete, creating a tactile balance of textures and colours. Curated furniture choices further enhance the space. The angular lines of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s Utrecht armchairs sit against signature LOEWE designs including black iron martini tables, podiums in silver ceramic and marble finishes, while a tufted puffer bench showcases the brand’s sophisticated leatherwork. Underfoot, an artisanal wool rug made in Spain features a reproduction of British textile artist John Allen’s tapestry Peveril of the Peak.

Hand-selected pieces from LOEWE’s anthology of international art and craft are also displayed. An untitled acrylic and ash on cotton work by Welsh-born, Glasgow-based artist Merlin James is characteristic of his idiosyncratic viewpoint: intimate, patinated, and constantly probing at the limits and possibilities of painting itself. Elsewhere a trio of etchings (1975-1992) by American artist Paul Thek fuse playful immediacy with more serious meditations on life’s ephemerality.
