The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Hosts "Experience Macao" Roadshow in Jakarta

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is set to make its inaugural mega tourism promotion event in Indonesia. Dubbed the "Experience Macao" Roadshow, this exciting event will unfold in Jakarta at the Central Park Mall's Laguna Atrium from May 9th to May 12th, 2024. Joining forces with the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin and six leading integrated resort enterprises in Macao, this occasion aims to unveil Macao's fresh identity as a global epicenter of tourism and leisure to the Indonesian community.

Participating in this event are six esteemed integrated resorts in Macao: SJM Resorts, S.A., MGM, Wynn Resorts Macau, Sands China Ltd., Galaxy Entertainment Group, and Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited. Each resort will unveil its distinctive offerings, ranging from opulent accommodations to top-tier entertainment. Guests can anticipate unparalleled hospitality and thrills awaiting them in Macao. Furthermore, in partnership with Air Macau and nine Indonesian travel agencies, MGTO is committed to presenting visitors with unbeatable travel deals and packages throughout the event.

"With the increasing number of direct flights connecting Macao with destinations in Southeast Asia and the launch of direct Air Macau flights between Jakarta and Macau in November 2023, interest from Indonesian tourists in visiting Macao has increased rapidly," explained Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

The opening ceremony, held on May 9, 2024, was attended by Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes as Director of Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms. Annissa Noviarny, Assistant Deputy Director of Tourism Marketing for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia; Ms. Cora Vong, Head of Marketing Division of Macao Goverment Tourism Office; Mr. Sadewa, Head of Marketing and Promotion GIPI, Confederation of Indonesia Tourism Associations; Mr. Chris Subianto, Treasurer of the ASTINDO National Board.

MGTO Director, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, said that tourist visits from Indonesia to Macao have increased quite significantly, therefore Macao is presenting the "Experience Macao" Roadshow in Jakarta this time.

"In 2019, the number of Indonesian tourists to Macao reached 169 thousand people and became the sixth country that contributed tourists. Interestingly, last year, Indonesia was able to reach the fourth highest number of international visitors to Macao," explained Ms. Helena.

The event organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), together with the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin and six integrated resort enterprises in Macao, presents a new image of Macao as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure to the Indonesian public. Air Macau and nine Indonesian travel agencies are also dedicated to providing the best deals and travel packages to visitors of the event.

Before the event started, representatives and invited guests who attended visited each "Experience Macao" participant booth. Next, the opening ceremony featured Portuguese Folk Dance. Then, a symbolic ribbon cutting activity was carried out. Closing the opening event, there was a neat performance from singer Lyodra Ginting.

Meanwhile, visitors at this event can engage in various activities, including experiencing Macao’s World Heritage Historic Center, festive events, gastronomy and city walks through VR headsets, Macau Grand Prix simulator, creating fireworks with interactive games, and an immersive Portuguese egg tart interactive installation.

The Macao government is currently reshaping the relationship between tourism, MICE, and other new industries, promoting the development of quality tourism, supporting operators in developing new tourism products, driving the broader growth of the tourism industry chain, and deepening cross-sector integration under the name "Tourism +", including "Tourism + Culture and Creativity", "Tourism + Sports", "Tourism + MICE", "Tourism + E-commerce", "Tourism + Education" and more.

"MGTO will continue to actively seek opportunities for cooperation between Macao and Indonesia, and we hope to welcome more Indonesian visitors to Macao and strengthen our relationship with the Indonesian tourism industry," explained Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

Excitement of the Event
Centered around the theme "Experience Macao", this roadshow will showcase Macao's diverse "Tourism +" elements and create a number of interesting and fun interactive game zones, including experiencing Macao’s World Heritage Historic Centre, festive events, gastronomy and city walks through VR headsets, Macau Grand Prix simulator, creating fireworks with interactive games, and an immersive Portuguese egg tart interactive installation.

The event will also feature a number of stage performances, including Indonesian superstar Lyodra Ginting, musical group TBA, and UN1TY, as well as lion dance, Portuguese folk dance, A Cappella, and Bossa Nova performances.

Visitors will have the chance to win Macao-themed souvenirs through stamp collections and interactive sessions at the venue. The Grand Lucky Draw will be held at 16:30 WIB and 20:30 WIB every day. Lucky winners will receive travel prizes to Macao.

Abundant special offers attract international visitors
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR, MGTO has launched the scheme “My Treats for You” of special travel offers for international visitors (from beyond the Greater China region). To attract international visitations to Macao, 250,000 gifts are rolled out including special offers on air tickets, cross-border transportation, hotel accommodation, dining, entertainment and show tickets.
