Monkey Shoulder Launches Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE in Jakarta, a city-wide music series in collaboration with Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM and a line up curated by Radio Rumah Oma.

Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE launches as a vibrant celebration of homegrown grassroots musical creativity; expect a two-month musical journey spanning four cities across Southeast Asia, where music, creative communities, and exceptional drinks come together. Building on Monkey Shoulder’s Studio Monkey Shoulder global music initiative, the series is designed as a platform for local expression, partnering with local venues and collectives to co-curate programmes that showcase the diversity and creativity of local music culture. Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE activates existing independent venue, intimate settings, creating meaningful encounters that bring people together to experience great drinks, music, culture, and connection.

At the heart of Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE is an uncompromising commitment to supporting local music scenes. Each edition is built in a different city across Southeast Asia, done in collaboration with a locally rooted music collective and venues known for their relentless effort in building community and pushing their music scene and sound forward. Their brief is to curate a programme that brings together music, beloved venues and communities.

Supporting the series are legendary British DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson and the team behind his internationally respected radio platform Worldwide FM, renowned for their instinct in discovering boundary-pushing talent and connecting city scenes across borders. Backing local community, Radio Rumah Oma, the curated lineups reflect the true heartbeat of each city, spotlighting everyone from rising voices to artists shaping the scene through Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE.

For the Jakarta edition of Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE, Gilles Peterson and Worldwide FM partner with homegrown collective Radio Rumah Oma to present a programme that celebrates the dynamism and diversity of Jakarta's ever-evolving underground music culture. At its heart is Monkey Shoulder's philosophy of the Blend, inspired by the brand's award-winning blended malt whisky, where different characters come together to create something unique. Unfolding across multiple nights from August to September 2026, Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE brings together Jakarta's diverse creative communities through a shared appreciation for music, culture and connection. Thoughtfully curated by Radio Rumah Oma, the series takes audiences on a journey of collaboration, exchange and shared discovery, moving from soul, funk, disco, house and global sounds at Bartiga and HATS Bar, to deep-listening session with Audio Nirvana at Chris Bunjamin Studio, before wrapping up with a high-energy finale at ZOO. By bringing together creative voices, communities and experiences, Studio Monkey Shoulder LIVE reflects the belief that great things happen when diverse influences come together.

Complementing the music is a carefully curated cocktail programme led by the Monkey Old Fashioned, while also giving bartenders the freedom to bring their own ideas to the table. The drinks are designed to feel like a natural extension of the space, thoughtfully crafted, welcoming, and made to be enjoyed alongside the music, creating moments where people can gather, share conversations, and connect.
