The RE ◇ GENERASI exhibition, a showcase rooted in Indonesia’s local wisdom to create a sustainable future, is in line with Indonesian fashion brand SukkhaCitta’s efforts to heal the earth. The exhibition that invites reconnecting to the origins of clothing is set to last from 20th November 2024 to 18th May 2025 at Plaza Indonesia; holding near and dear to nature’s regenerative cycle and focusing on soil health, women’s empowerment, and cultural preservation.
RE ◇ GENERASI by SukkhaCitta Heals the Earth
“Starting in Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, and hopefully many other cities in Indonesia, the RE ◇ GENERASI exhibition aims to remind everyone to reconnect with the land, through the ‘From Soil, For Soil™’ movement,” explained Denica Riadini-Flesch, Founder of SukkhaCitta.
“This can begin with something as close to us as our daily clothing. All of SukkhaCitta’s creations are made from 100 percent plant-based materials: from organic, regenerative Tumpang Sari cotton to natural dyes that colour our fabrics. We apply these practices so everything we create helps regenerate the land by changing how it’s grown, can be restored through re-dye services, and is designed to biodegrade back into the Earth, leaving zero waste.”
Fashion is not just about beauty but can be part of a larger movement towards a regenerative economy through creativity, according to SukkhaCitta’s vision. Each SukkhaCitta collection is designed to biodegrade back into the Earth without generating waste, aligning with both ecological and social regeneration. The REGENERASI exhibition will showcase SukkhaCitta’s latest collection, KAPAS Kala, which is made from their regenerative Indigo leaf-dyed cotton.
“Many people are still not fully aware of regenerative practices and their importance for the future. The RE ◇ GENERASI exhibition aims to introduce this concept to a wider audience through a dynamic and impactful display,” enthused Anastasia A. Setiobudi, Creative Director of SukkhaCitta. “We hope that SukkhaCitta’s message will move hearts, and we want to show that each of us can contribute to the environment and the future through fashion.”
Beyond environmental issues, the exhibition also highlights the stories of the mothers who produce SukkhaCitta collections using local wisdom techniques—such as Tumpang Sari—without harmful chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
Moreover, as the world’s first fashion brand to be certified Ethically Handcrafted and the first fashion brand in Asia verified for a net-zero target by the Science-Based Targets Initiative, SukkhaCitta is not only focused on reducing existing damage but also creating a tangible positive impact. Visitors to the exhibition can contribute to the MAMA TANAH program, an initiative run by Rumah SukkhaCitta Foundation for four years to empower women in rural Indonesia.
This program combines traditional farming techniques with modern technology to restore soil health. MAMA TANAH not only addresses climate change and gender inequality but also provides sustainable livelihoods for women in Eastern Indonesia, allowing them to continue caring for ancestral traditions.
Deputy CEO of Paragon Technology and Innovation, Sari Chairunnisa, commented that SukkhaCitta’s dreams and vision coincide with Paragon’s commitment to sustainability. “We’re thrilled and touched when we hear the stories from SukkhaCitta’s team about the dreams and vision they have for the environment and the people around them. The values upheld by SukkhaCitta resonate deeply with the values we hold at Wardah, Earth Love Life, and Paragon as a whole,” she added.
The RE ◇ GENERASI journey will be available for visitors at Ashta District 8 and Design Orchard in Singapore as well. Each exhibition offers a unique experience and opportunity for visitors to view fashion—especially clothing—from a new perspective to pave the way for a sustainable future.
