Maison Martell Celebrates the Year of the Horse 2026

with a Limited Edition Adorned with Majestic Calligraphy

In celebration of the Year of the Horse 2026, Maison Martell unveils a special limited-edition collection that beautifully merges the tradition of cognac craftsmanship with the art of Chinese calligraphy. As a tribute to the free-spirited and noble nature of the Horse, Maison Martell’s most iconic cognac expressions are elevated with elegant calligraphic designs.

Maison Martell presents a complete limited-edition collection to welcome the Year of the Horse with renewed passion and intensity. Inspired by Martell’s close connection to the Horse — which in modern Mandarin shares the same first character — the House introduces artistic calligraphy symbolizing this special bond. Available in various expressions, from VSOP to XXO, these exclusive designs create iconic limited editions that serve as meaningful and auspicious Lunar New Year gifts.

Maison Martell and the Noble Horse: A Natural Harmony

To bring this special connection to life, Maison Martell collaborates with renowned Chinese artist He Datian, celebrated for his horse paintings. Driven by courage and determination, He Datian created a majestic calligraphic work in which the figure of a horse appears to emerge magically from the Mandarin characters forming the name “Martell.”

The relationship between Maison Martell and this powerful creature goes beyond literal or visual symbolism. The horse is deeply embedded in the House’s history. Founded in 1715 by Jean Martell at just 21 years old, he courageously explored the Cognac region on horseback. Step by step, his journey led him to discover and fall in love with the local terroir, ultimately selecting the finest eaux-de-vie (water of life) in the region.

Where Fine Art Meets Artisanal Expertise

To honor this special bond, Maison Martell designed packaging that pays tribute to traditional Chinese culture, reinterpreted through the modern artistic vision of He Datian. With his deep spiritual connection to the horse, the artist created a series of works using traditional Chinese brush painting and calligraphy techniques.

Boldly engraved across Martell’s most premium cognac collections — from VSOP to XXO — the dynamic visuals radiate the House’s vibrant energy alongside the horse’s strength and elegance.

Through masterful brushstrokes, the artist adapted each illustration to reflect the distinctive character of every cognac expression:

  • On Martell VSOP, the silhouette of a galloping horse symbolizes richness and the intensity of its abundant fruit aromas.

  • On Martell Noblige, a dramatically rearing horse represents the cognac’s spirited and energetic personality.

  • On Martell Cordon Bleu, the horse is depicted leaping and swiftly changing direction, symbolizing the triumphant legacy of Maison Martell’s most iconic expression.

  • A similar artistic approach is applied to Martell XO and Martell XXO, reflecting their exceptional characteristics.

A Celebration of Color and Craftsmanship

Representing the shared energy of Maison Martell and the 2026 zodiac sign, the limited-edition bottles and packaging showcase the vitality of the cognac within through rich colors and captivating designs.

For Martell Noblige and Martell Cordon Bleu, the color palette is dominated by red and electric blue with touches of shimmering gold — a combination that radiates festivity and bold elegance. Meanwhile, Martell XO and Martell XXO feature dominant gold and silver tones, creating a highly refined and prestigious impression.

Overall, the artist’s hand-crafted touch adds a sense of exclusivity to these grand designs, reflecting the craftsmanship behind every drop of cognac  transforming it into a joy to share and an honor to receive.
