Wastraloka Brings Together Fashion, Culinary, and Inclusivity at Vertu Harmoni Jakarta

To commemorate National Batik Day, Vertu Harmoni Jakarta presents Wastraloka, a celebration that brings together fashion, culinary arts, Indonesian heritage, and culture in one immersive experience. Held on Sunday, 27 September 2026, at Voyage Restaurant on the 5th floor of Vertu Harmoni Jakarta, Wastraloka featured a trunk show and buffet lunch showcasing creations by Alleira Batik, Coreta Louise, and Sasya Tranggono. The event also provided a platform for inclusivity through the participation of the Indonesian Children’s Cancer Foundation (YKAI) and Wonderful Warriors, making the celebration of batik not only about cultural heritage, but also creativity, collaboration, and compassion.

As part of the trunk show, guests were presented with a Noni kebaya look by Coreta Louise, featuring batik fabric from Alleira Batik developed through a collaboration with Sasya Tranggono. The collaboration brought together three creative perspectives, combining distinctive design elements, the beauty of Indonesian wastra (traditional textiles), and artistic expression into one interpretation of Indonesian fashion. For Vertu Harmoni Jakarta, Wastraloka is part of its effort to present batik from a more contemporary perspective that resonates with today’s lifestyle, while celebrating the creativity of those who continue to reinterpret and preserve Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

“We created Wastraloka as an appreciation of batik and Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, particularly in celebration of National Batik Day. We want to demonstrate that batik can be expressed through various experiences, from fashion and culinary arts to art and lifestyle. Through collaborations with creative talents and communities, we hope Wastraloka can become a space that brings together creativity and people in a meaningful and inclusive experience,” said Roman Soleh, Director of Marketing and Communication, Vertu Hotel Harmoni Jakarta.

Beyond fashion, culinary arts became an integral part of the Wastraloka experience, with specially curated creations by Chef Vallerian and Chef Alan of Vertu Harmoni Jakarta. Created exclusively for Wastraloka, the two chefs presented interpretations of Indonesian cuisine that combine authentic Nusantara flavors with modern and creative approaches, in line with Vertu’s F&B signature concept of fusion cuisine. Chef Vallerian presented a selection of savory Indonesian dishes, including Ujung Pandang-style Makassar Fried Rice, Smoked Stingray with Cassava Leaves, Oxtail Soup, Ayam Pelalah, and Balinese Rice, featuring Balinese yellow rice, ayam pelalah, urap, and sate lilit. The fusion concept was further expressed through three sushi roll creations—Rendang Sushi Roll, Urap Sushi Roll, and Balinese Chicken Sushi Roll—as well as Chicken Rica-Rica Pizza, combining distinctive Indonesian flavors with contemporary culinary formats.

Meanwhile, Chef Alan presented a selection of Indonesian-inspired sweet creations with a contemporary fusion approach, specially designed to complement the Wastraloka culinary experience. The creations included Pisang Rai, Klepon Choux, Coconut Cheesecake, and Cendol Panna Cotta. Through these creations, traditional Indonesian flavors and dessert inspirations were reinterpreted through contemporary presentation and techniques. This approach reflects Vertu Harmoni Jakarta’s continued exploration of Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage, presenting it in innovative forms while maintaining the distinctive character and inspiration of the original dishes.

Inclusivity was also an important part of the event, with the presence of Ms. Ruth Susiana Setiabudi, Vice Chairman II of the Indonesian Children’s Cancer Foundation (YKAI), together with two children living with cancer, Syakina Abelia and Haikal Arshavin, as well as Wonderful Warriors. Their presence provided guests with an opportunity to learn more about the children’s stories and journeys while creating a space to foster greater awareness, compassion, and support. The event concluded with a performance by Bryan Zaparta, who entertained guests with a selection of Top 40 songs and his original works, completing the Wastraloka journey that brought together fashion, culinary arts, music, art, culture, and social awareness.

Through Wastraloka, Vertu Harmoni Jakarta presented more than just a trunk show and buffet lunch. It created an experience that brought together Indonesian textiles, fashion, Nusantara cuisine, art, music, and inclusivity in one celebration, representing Indonesia’s cultural richness through a modern perspective that remains relevant to today’s lifestyle.
