FLIX Cinema Opens Its Screens to Asian Cinema Through Nanyang Film Festival

FLIX Cinema served as the official partner and screening venue for Nanyang Film Festival (NFF) 2026, held from 9–11 October 2026 at FLIX Cinema PIK Avenue and FLIX Cinema Mall of Indonesia. This collaboration reflects FLIX Cinema’s commitment to offering diverse moviegoing experiences while providing broader access for audiences to discover cinematic works from countries across Asia.

Featuring 22 films from China and various parts of Asia, Nanyang Film Festival 2026 serves as a platform for cultural exchange through cinema, bringing together audiences, filmmakers, and creative industry professionals from different countries. As a venue partner, FLIX Cinema provides a space for diverse stories and cultural perspectives to reach Indonesian audiences, making the moviegoing experience more than just entertainment, but also an opportunity to discover different cultures and points of view.

FLIX Cinema: A Meeting Point for Stories and Cultures Through Cinema

As the venue partner for Nanyang Film Festival 2026, FLIX Cinema played a role in hosting the festival’s screenings at its two locations, PIK Avenue and Mall of Indonesia. The festival’s presence at both venues gave visitors the opportunity to enjoy a selection of films from across Asia in a comfortable viewing environment while becoming part of a celebration of cross-cultural cinema.

This collaboration also highlights the importance of synergy between cinema networks and festival organizers in expanding the reach of films that offer perspectives different from those typically found in mainstream commercial releases. Through the screening spaces provided by FLIX Cinema, films become a medium for bringing together diverse experiences, histories, and cultural values while encouraging greater public appreciation of the development of Asian cinema.

The festival’s opening at FLIX Cinema PIK Avenue on 9 October 2026 featured a screening of Back to Love, directed by Lan Hongchun. The event was also attended by diplomatic representatives, Indonesia–China friendship organizations, film industry professionals, and creative industry representatives. The occasion reaffirmed the festival’s role as a meeting point that not only showcases cinematic works but also fosters dialogue and connections between communities through film.

“Through this festival, we hope audiences will not only enjoy outstanding films and get to know the filmmakers behind them, but also develop a deeper appreciation for cultural richness and the close ties between Indonesia and China. We hope this festival marks the beginning of meaningful, long-term collaborations that continue to grow, while serving as a bridge of friendship through the power of cinema,” said Troy Fridatama, GM Business Development and Public Relations, ASRI.

Nanyang Film Festival 2026 Expands Appreciation for Asian Cinema

Organized by Nanyang Bridge Media, Nanyang Film Festival 2026 features 22 films across a wide range of genres, including drama, documentary, animation, fantasy, horror, and comedy. This diverse selection gives audiences the opportunity to explore stories from different cultural backgrounds while broadening their perspectives on Asian cinema.

One of the festival’s highlights is the screening of the documentary 5, a China–South Korea co-production featuring the testimonies of the five last surviving victims of the Japanese military’s wartime sexual slavery system, known as the comfort women system, in South Korea. Through firsthand accounts shared by the survivors, the film creates space for reflection on collective memory, humanity, and peace across Asia.

For FLIX Cinema, participation in the festival demonstrates how collaboration with creative industry players can offer increasingly diverse moviegoing experiences to the public. The partnership with Nanyang Film Festival also provides an opportunity to connect audiences with works that present different cultural perspectives while strengthening the role of cinemas as spaces for artistic appreciation and the exchange of ideas.

Running until 11 October 2026, Nanyang Film Festival can be enjoyed at FLIX Cinema PIK Avenue and FLIX Cinema Mall of Indonesia. Through this collaboration, FLIX Cinema supports the creation of a meeting point for stories, cultures, and talent from various countries while opening up opportunities for Asian cinema to reach a wider audience in Indonesia.
