The restaurant, which briefly operated last December makes it easy to imagine return trips. It’s an easy place to be. Pass by its large neon signage and you’ll enter into a lively dining room that seems like it goes on forever. The main dining room is heavy on the bricked walls adorned with a funky Lady Liberty figurine flashing in full neon lights. Lilting sphere lights on the ceiling form a stylish, modern establishment above velvety sofas. Straight ahead, the bar is daintily draped in a bit of moody light bottle shelves above.
In lieu of the best spot to embrace the natural light spot, HOME by Moonshine’s stippled with outdoor dining setups on its front terrace equipped with standing air conditioners and a glass-house-like setup to add convenience.
Conjoining the booming nightlife spot with a dining destination for more mature but young-minded guests makes HOME by Moonshine the best case for its addition to the neighborhood. With more granular influences from Uncle Sam flavours from the talented Chef Atang. K, diners can expect exceptional American-inspired dishes that strike the perfect balance between tradition and creativity.
Spice things up first with Home El Taco. This attention-grabbing starter is a good item to order if you show up starving. It’s a grilled shrimp taco with a bang bang sauce that is slightly sweet and spicy thanks to sriracha, chili sauce, and the right amount of honey.
The 150gr Homemade Slow Ribs with sweet potato sticks, pickles, coleslaw, and au jus sauce is a crowd-pleasing classic. The 12-hour slow-cooked beef ribs is a pleasant combination of tender ribs and sweet savory smoky perfectly-bodied sauce that all blend together with the acidity and freshness from its sides.
The next menu that follows is among Atang’s most outstanding plates. Chop Chop Pork Chop may sound witty but wait until you taste the first slice of it. The pan-seared 300 gr pork chop has a satisfying tenderness, incredibly meaty with a sweet note coming from caramelized apple and apple puree complementing each item. The mixed salad with French dressing adds some extra zesty taste.
Taking an influence from Mexico, they have Chicken Chipotle which is hot and richly flavored with cajun powder. The half-chicken is first marinated for 5 hours and then roasted to get a perfectly tender interior. The Hollandaise spinach sauce makes great use of its creamy sweetness, and it's all best consumed with the mixed salad and their signature French dressing.
If you have fonder feelings about our local dishes, worry not. HOME by Moonshine has prepared a few convenient local dishes that will still whet your appetite. Pick Rawon Buntut for a hearty fulfilling meal anyone could go with. The 200gr oxtail is stewed with kluwek and some extra traditional herbs to enhance the rich flavour. The addition of salted egg duck, sprouts, crackers, and sambal meld nicely with thick black broth and fully juicy oxtails.
From one oxtail dish to another. This time, you can only order it for a limited time this month throughout July. Tagliatelle Oxtail which the oxtail remains super juicy served on top of tagliatelle which adds a savory kick of au jus sauce, truffle oil, and spinach oil flavors that you don't often find anywhere. They put a theatrical mode when serving the dish by using a round tray plate filled with dried ice and then the pouring water will create a misty chilly effect cloaking the extraordinary dish.
Like seemingly everyone else in Jakarta who has a sweet tooth, decent desserts are available here. The Coconut Island is the real draw. It's made from lightly sweet coconut jelly mixed and stacked with fruit toppings and the goodness of pistachio sauce.
For a unique dessert creation that breaks the mold, you should try Waffle Maple Bacon which resembles a scope of vanilla ice cream on top of a homemade waffle served with maple syrup and bacon. It leaves an amazingly delicate, smoky-sweet flavour, and fluffy firm waffle that appeals after about a bite.
A full bar with some well-crafted cocktails is one of the HOME by Moonshine's strengths to let the guests get loose and stay groovy. For bright, summery vibes, Melon Tree made from vodka-infused orange, lemon juice, apple syrup, and melon liqueur could be very nice on its own. It is a sweet, beachy libation that looks ahead to summer.
Moon Gimlet with a subtle note of gin-infused chamomile, citrus mix, and elderflower. Lightly perfumed, it’s perky and smooth at once. It really goes well with any kind of night agenda you're eager on. For a novelty cocktail, NY Sour is one incredible drink you should try. It's concocted from whisky, citrus mix, rosemary, and the incredible use of salted port wine foam on the top to flow the night really right.
Their mocktails game really comes strong as well. Home Fruit Punch for a drench of some exotic fruit, and Pineapple Blossom will take you to a beachy tropical vibe that you can immerse refreshingly in the city.
