Jakarta’s dining scene has a new addition with the arrival of TAMU, a restaurant that bridges memory and modernity. Rooted in the philosophy of “Tatap Muka” (Face to Face), TAMU believes dining goes beyond food—it’s about gathering, sharing stories, and creating connections. Carrying the identity of “Nostalgic Yet Dynamic,” the restaurant reflects this duality through every detail: dishes inspired by Indonesian heritage, architectural elements preserved from the past, and reinterpretations that speak to today’s generation.
TAMU Opens in Jakarta, Celebrating and Indonesian Flavors
Food takes center stage at TAMU. Among the signatures is Konro Pipi Sapi, a modern take on Makassar’s iconic beef rib soup. Here, tender sous-vide beef cheek meets the same spiced broth of coriander, nutmeg, and kluwak for a familiar yet refined experience. Sambal Goreng Otot, drawn from Chef Owner Alnico Andreas’ childhood in Cirebon, reimagines West Javanese beef tendon stir-fried with chili paste. Balinese flavors shine in Lawar Udang by Corporate Chef Arief Rachman, a vibrant mix of vegetables, coconut, and spices, layered with fresh prawns and dried shrimp. Each dish honors tradition while embracing culinary innovation.
The restaurant’s cultural soul is embodied in a 50-year-old saka guru—four wooden pillars from a traditional Javanese house—preserved and integrated into the interior. More than structural, the saka guru symbolizes strength, balance, and community, anchoring a space that feels both grounded in heritage and relevant for today.

“We want TAMU to be a place where people meet face to face, enjoy a meal, and leave with stories to share,” said Hartono Moe, Co-founder of TOMA Group. Designed as both a daily dining spot and a venue for special occasions, TAMU features two private rooms for six and ten guests, and can host up to 250 guests for weddings, corporate events, or milestone celebrations.
With Alnico Andreas and Arief Rachman leading the culinary vision, TAMU will go beyond its core menu through seasonal creations and collaborations with local producers, creatives, and cultural practitioners—ensuring it continues to evolve with fresh ideas.

More than a restaurant, TAMU emerges as a gathering place where nostalgia meets dynamism, food becomes a language, and atmosphere transforms into connection. In a city that often rushes past the table, TAMU invites guests to pause, linger, and rediscover the meaning of dining—nostalgic yet dynamic.
