Originally from Kolkata, India, Samit earned a degree in accounting and an MBA before embarking on his hospitality career. His journey began in the front office of an iconic Indian hotel, setting the stage for what has now been a rewarding 25-year career. After gaining experience in front office and reservations, he transitioned into sales and marketing, honing his expertise with international hospitality brands in Kolkata, New Delhi, and Dubai.
In 2012, Samit moved to Jakarta, joining a renowned five-star hotel as Director of Sales and Marketing. His strategic leadership drove significant transformation, ultimately leading to his promotion as Hotel Manager. By 2018, he assumed his first General Manager role, successfully steering a premier resort in Phuket through the pandemic’s challenges. He later returned to Jakarta, playing a key role in the post-COVID recovery of a distinguished luxury hotel.

Now at the helm of Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Samit is eager to leverage the property’s architectural and artistic elegance. “Every space here unfolds a new layer of emotion and engagement, turning the guest journey into a story,” he remarks. “Even after a decade, the hotel’s design remains fresh and relevant—a true hallmark of timeless luxury.”
As a leader, Samit measures success by the relationships he fosters, the trust he builds, and the team members he mentors. While budgets and figures fluctuate, he believes that collaboration, teamwork, and shared achievements are what truly define success in the hospitality industry.
Outside of work, Samit enjoys playing tennis and following sports. Cricket, a nod to his Indian heritage, holds a special place in his heart, while his passion for football fuels his unwavering support for Liverpool FC. A devoted movie enthusiast, he also has a fondness for classic Indian films from the 1990s.
