Indonesia Dessert Week (IDW), the country’s premier dessert festival, proudly introduces the Golden Swirl Awards for the Jakarta region. This prestigious accolade is designed to honor and celebrate the finest contributors to Jakarta’s dynamic dessert scene.

In its debut year, the Golden Swirl Awards spotlights Jakarta’s vibrant dessert culture with 13 carefully curated categories. Each category reflects the diversity and richness of the industry, covering everything from traditional Indonesian treats to international dessert delights.

The winners of the 2024 Golden Swirl Awards in Jakarta are as follows:

  • Traditional Indonesian Dessert Shop of the Year: Iki Koue

  • Cake Shop of the Year: FLOR

  • Ice Cream & Gelato Shop of the Year: Mack's Creamery

  • Chocolate Shop of the Year: Pipiltin Cocoa

  • Viennoiserie Shop of the Year: BRAUD General Store

  • Vegan/Vegetarian Dessert Shop of the Year: Rumah Juliet

  • Doughnut Shop of the Year: Luna's Doughnuts

  • Cookie Shop of the Year: Endorphins

  • Plated Dessert of the Year: August

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Heru Laksana (Maison Weiner)

  • Emerging Dessert Shop of the Year: Maiku - Blok M

  • Dessert Experience of the Year: LIT Bakehouse

  • Pastry Chef of the Year: Nabila Yoestino

Judges Panel

The Golden Swirl Awards are judged by an esteemed 10-member jury, ensuring the evaluation process is thorough and credible. The panel includes five IDW founders: Gupta Sitorus (restaurateur and founder of the Indonesian Culinary Museum), Primo Rizky (restaurateur and founder of Geometry Media), Kevindra Soemantri (restaurateur, book author, and founder of Feastin'), Talita Setyadi (restaurateur), and Tria Nuragustina (senior culinary writer). They are joined by celebrity chefs and culinary entrepreneurs such as Yuda Bustara, Rinrin Marinka, chocolatier Louis Tanuhadi (Director of the Indonesian Patisserie & Culinary Academy), popular chef and podcaster Ray Janson, and Teuku Andre Aziz, founder of TwoRubber, a leading culinary media company in Indonesia.

Judges assess each dessert based on the following key criteria:

  • Taste and Texture: Balance of flavors and contrast of textures

  • Quality and Technique: Consistency and execution, reflecting the chef's skill and use of high-quality ingredients

  • Market Appeal: Potential to align with market trends and customer preferences, showcasing uniqueness in the dessert landscape
