BritCham Indonesia's Support for Empowering Women at the UK-ASEAN Trade Mission

As one of the most influential and active foreign chambers of commerce in Indonesia, BritCham Indonesia continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing trade and investment between the UK and Indonesia. Through its dynamic network, BritCham facilitates key initiatives aimed at fostering bilateral economic growth. A prime example of this commitment was the participation of Chris Wren, Executive Director of BritCham Indonesia, in the UK-ASEAN Trade Mission held on 21-22 November 2024 at the Pullman Hotel Jakarta.

This event, organised by SheTrades Indonesia Hub in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs' Network Cambodia (CamWEN), is a vital platform for fostering greater trade opportunities and cooperation between women entrepreneurs across the UK and ASEAN.

In his remarks, Chris Wren emphasised BritCham Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusivity, underscoring its unique position within the business landscape. "BritCham remains the only foreign chamber in Indonesia with a dedicated Hub focused on elevating women in business," Wren stated. "We are proud to support trade opportunities between women entrepreneurs in the UK, Indonesia, and the wider ASEAN region, aligning with our mission to drive inclusive economic growth." He also expressed his gratitude to UK

Ambassador to the ASEAN, Sarah Tiffin for inviting BritCham Indonesia to support the UK-ASEAN Trade Mission.

A cornerstone of BritCham Indonesia’s efforts is its Professional Women’s HUB, the only one of its kind among European chambers in Indonesia. Led by Sony Jethnani, the HUB works to empower and connect women in business, aligning with the core objectives of the UK-ASEAN Trade Mission. Reflecting on the event, Sony Jethnani shared, “Export opportunities across ASEAN not only contribute to economic growth but also strengthen the role of Indonesian women in driving sustainable trade and fostering regional collaboration. Our HUB is a venue to support initiatives and empower women to lead the way in creating impactful business connections within ASEAN and beyond.”
