Nyepi Day celebrations on 19th March 2026 will be centred at Bundaran HI in Central Jakarta, marking a significant moment for the capital’s public observance of religious holidays. The Jakarta Provincial Government has announced plans to stage an ogoh-ogoh parade and install penjor (traditional Balinese bamboo poles symbolising prosperity and gratitude) in the area.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung Wibowo, emphasised that all religions must be treated equally in Jakarta, reiterating that he serves as governor for people of all faiths. He stated that major religious holidays such as Christmas, Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Nyepi should be celebrated inclusively in the capital.

This year’s Nyepi programme will be organised into four main clusters, according to Suharini Eliawati, Assistant for Economy and Finance to the Jakarta Regional Secretary.

- First cluster: core religious rituals, such as Melasti, Tawur Agung Kesanga, Nyepi, and Ngembak Geni.

- Second cluster: social and community initiatives.

- Third cluster: cultural and educational festivals, including the ogoh-ogoh parade.

- Fourth cluster: Dharma Santi, a post-Nyepi gathering to strengthen community ties.

The full series of events will take place across North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Central Jakarta. The Melasti purification ceremony is scheduled for 15th March 2026 at Pura Segara in North Jakarta and will be attended by Hindu communities from across the city. Tawur Agung Kesanga will follow on 18th March 2026 at Pura Aditya Jaya in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

Beyond the religious observances, organisers are preparing a range of social and cultural activities, including community service initiatives, blood donation drives, and free medical services. Financial literacy and MSME seminars will also be held, alongside cultural festivals and public-space ogoh-ogoh parades.
