Government Support for Culinary & Tourism Growth

“The culinary subsector has become the backbone of Indonesia’s creative economy, contributing 42% to GDP, generating over Rp 644 trillion in added value, USD 10.8 billion in exports, and creating 9 million jobs in 2024. Culinary is not only a new engine of growth but also a tool for cultural diplomacy and export acceleration, which will continue to be developed through innovation, collaboration, and empowerment of regional creative talent,” said Yuke Sri Rahayu, Deputy for Creativity, Culture, and Design, Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia

“Jakarta Dessert Week is not just a celebration of culinary creativity but also a step towards sustainable tourism. Initiatives like this enrich Indonesia’s tourism experiences while boosting the creative economy and positioning Jakarta as a gastronomic destination," stated Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh, Expert Staff to the Minister for Sustainable Development and Conservation, Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.

A Tribute to Jakarta

This year’s theme, “A Tribute to Jakarta,” honors the city as a hub of creativity and cultural dynamism. “For the past seven years, Indonesia Dessert Week has been a platform for collaboration across the culinary industry, from established names to emerging talents. With this year’s theme, we celebrate Jakarta as a city of inspiration and home to countless gifted pastry chefs and dessert artisans. Through JDW, we aim to raise industry standards, create new opportunities, and bring Indonesian desserts to the global stage," explained Gupta Sitorus, Founder of Indonesia Dessert Week.

Digitalization & Public Engagement

In line with its digital innovation efforts, JDW 2025 launches the Indonesia Dessert Week mobile app, developed by Opaper. First introduced at Bandung Dessert Week, the app now enhances Jakarta’s festival experience by providing program details, event registration, and a digital stamp system for dessert hopping.

Festival-goers can also take part in a lucky draw, with prizes including KitchenAid appliances, Nespresso machines, Cristel cookware, luxury hotel stays, dining vouchers, and coffee courses at Roemah Koffie Academy. Additional perks include HSBC credit card discounts at the bazaar and a daily Best IG Story Contest offering dining vouchers from Markette, Central Park Mall.
