Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts Presents “Spirit of Sustainability”, Demonstrating Genuine Commitment to Sustainability Development Goals
Indonesia has shown significant progress in its pursuit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since they were first adopted in 2015. The nation has implemented various strategic policies and programs aimed at meeting the 17 global goals with a target of 100% achievement in 2030. Overall, Indonesia has achieved 62.5% of the total SDG targets that can be evaluated. With five years remaining until 2030, Indonesia continues to strive to accelerate the full achievement of the SDGs through collaboration between the government, private sector, and the community.
Responding to the government's invitation to make this program a success, Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts is also working with the government to help accelerate Indonesia's SDG success. With a total of 114 hotel units spread across more than 50 cities in Indonesia, Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts is committed to forming and implementing a “Sustainable Culture” not only across all its hotels but also all within the employees themselves through its “Spirit of Sustainability” program. The program was rolled out simultaneously in more than 50 cities in Indonesia on April 25, 2025 to coincide with its commemoration of Earth Day, with the main event being the activation of the Solar Power Plant at The ANVAYA Beach Resort - Bali by the Governor of Bali, Mr. Wayan Koster. The Governor was accompanied by Mr. Ida Bagus Setiawan, Head of the Bali Provincial Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Mr. Johanes Widjaja, President Director of PT Grahawita Santika, Mr. Harvey Tjokro, President Director of PT Agra Surya Energy, and Professor I Wayan Suprapta Winaya, Head of the New and Renewable Energy Research Group, Udayana University. In his speech the Governor took the opportunity to announce plans to make Bali a “green tourism zone” focused on the preservation of nature and local culture.
Santika Indonesia’s “Spirit of Sustainability” goes beyond the installation of solar power plants at eight of its hotels. The “Santika Sahabat Bumi” program is a trash clean-up initiative operating throughout the Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts network and anticipated to result in 4.4 tonnes of trash collected. Prita Gero, Corp. Marcomm Manager of Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts, explained that group plans to achieve this figure by setting a target of 40 kg of trash per month for every one of its hotels, including Amaris Hotel, Kampi Hotel, Hotel Santika, Hotel Santika Premiere, The ANVAYA, The Kayana, & The Samaya, throughout 2025.
Other initiatives that have been made by Santika Indonesia include the use of 100% plastic-free amenities, the incorporation of greener designs within its architectural plans, with more open areas in its hotels, regenerative tourism, and waste recycling plans. The group is also focused on developing hotels in Class 2 and Class 3 cities to help provide more jobs and reduce poverty, and is working to foster a culture of sustainability across its workforce.
