Celebrating 13 Years of HARRIS Day: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles with the Final Lap Run

The streets of Bandung, Bali, and Batam came alive on December 8, 2024, during the HARRIS Day FINAL LAP 2024, bringing together over 2,500 participants across three regions of Bandung, Bali, and Batam in a shared commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle through a fun run and various other sporting activities.

With the theme FINAL LAP, this year’s event marked a significant milestone, symbolizing a 13-year journey filled with achievements and cherished moments that have become integral to the HARRIS Day tradition. The theme also served as a tribute to the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants. Participants in Bandung, Bali, and Batam demonstrated great excitement as they joined the fun run, which featured two race categories: 3 KM and 7 KM.

The event attracted over 2,500 participants from diverse backgrounds, including running communities, hotel guests, employees, and members of the public. The HARRIS Day running routes this year were thoughtfully designed to allow runners to enjoy the scenic beauty of iconic locations in Bandung, Bali, and Batam, enhancing the overall experience.

Setting itself apart from conventional running events, HARRIS Day went beyond athleticism by reaffirming its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). A portion of ticket sales was donated to the ISCO Foundation (Indonesia Street Children Organization) and SOS Children’s Village, both of which are dedicated to empowering disadvantaged children through education and opportunity.

Philip Barnes, Country General Manager of The Ascott Limited – Indonesia, commented, “Since 2011, HARRIS Day has been a testament to our unwavering commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle in a fun and engaging way. This year’s event received overwhelming enthusiasm, surpassing our expectations with participation exceeding our target. We also aimed to demonstrate that HARRIS Day is more than just a sporting event; it is a platform for contributing positively to the community through our support of the ISCO Foundation and SOS Children’s Village. This initiative is a reflection of Ascott’s broader commitment to not only delivering memorable hospitality experiences but also fostering goodwill and driving meaningful change within society.”

Beyond the fun run, participants were treated to a variety of engaging activities in each city, including live entertainment, healthy food stalls, exciting sports activities, and giveaway sessions with attractive prizes. HARRIS Day participants also received exclusive souvenirs, such as jerseys, medals, and special merchandise, as a token of appreciation for their involvement.

Irene Janti, Country Director of Brand & Marketing for The Ascott Limited – Indonesia, stated, “Living in Balance is the essence of the HARRIS Hotels brand, and for the past 13 years, HARRIS Day has stood as a symbol of our commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle in an enjoyable and inclusive manner. Through the FINAL LAP theme this year, we invited the community to celebrate not only their personal achievements in sports but also their ability to make a positive impact through contributions to the community. This event is part of our ongoing efforts to inspire healthy living as a lifestyle accessible to everyone.”
