From Employee to Entrepreneur:

Flei Business Show 2026 Opens Business Opportunities Amid Economic Dynamics

Amid global economic uncertainty influenced by geopolitical dynamics, rising living costs, and pressure on purchasing power, more people are beginning to realize that relying on a single source of income is no longer sufficient. This condition is driving a shift in mindset, where employees are now seeking business opportunities as an alternative source of income and as a way to anticipate future uncertainties.

This phenomenon aligns with the significant role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which contribute more than 60% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and absorb around 97% of the workforce, according to data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia. This highlights that entrepreneurship is not just an option but an essential part of sustaining economic movement.

Along with this shift, more structured business models such as partnerships and franchises are becoming increasingly popular, as they offer proven systems, more measurable risks, and a more practical process for starting a business compared to building one from scratch. In addition, these models allow individuals to start a business without being directly involved in daily operations, opening opportunities as investors or business partners.

“In the midst of global uncertainty, many companies are starting to hold back expansion and look for ways to share risks. In this situation, the franchise model is becoming increasingly relevant as it allows businesses to grow without bearing the full burden of investment and operations. This makes franchising one of the more adaptive approaches in facing current conditions,” said Evi Diah Puspitawati from Franchise Academy Indonesia.

This view is reinforced by trends in the field. The Chairman of the Indonesian Franchise & License Association (WALI), Levita Ginting Supit, observes a shift in mindset among employees and professionals.

“We are seeing a significant change, where more employees are no longer relying solely on their primary income but are also starting to build their own businesses. Franchising becomes one of the entry points because the system is already well-prepared, allowing them to start without going through a long trial-and-error process,” said Levita.

Responding to this need, FLEI Business Show 2026 is present as a platform that connects business opportunities with people who want to start a business with greater certainty. Not only standing alone, FLEI Business Show 2026 will also be held alongside Café Brasserie Expo and Morefood Expo, turning the venue into a broader business exploration space. Over four days, visitors can explore more than 400 brands from various industries, with a target attendance of 25,000 visitors. The presence of these three exhibitions simultaneously opens more opportunities for inspiration, connections, and business transactions for both visitors and business players.

“What we see today is that many people already have the desire to start a business but are still looking for the right model that can be implemented immediately. FLEI Business Show is designed as a place where they can meet brands directly, see the systems, and understand how the business works in practice, not just as a concept,” said Rulief Harjianto, Project Manager of FLEI Business Show 2026.

In addition to offering various business opportunities, FLEI Business Show 2026 will also feature programs such as business conferences, inspirational sessions from industry players, free business consultations, and business matching sessions that help visitors understand and choose the most suitable and ready-to-run business opportunities.

The organization of FLEI Business Show 2026 is also supported by various parties, including the Ministry of Trade, associations and communities such as HIPPINDO, APINDO, ASLI, TES, and TWDC, as well as international strategic media partners Asiawide Franchise Consultants and World Franchise Associates (WFA). This collaborative support further strengthens FLEI Business Show 2026 as a credible and relevant platform in driving entrepreneurship growth in Indonesia.
