If you’ve been missing the taste of Bali, there’s a little oasis tucked away in South Jakarta that might just satisfy your craving. Located in the quiet residential area of the Wijaya housing complex, Bali Dari Selatan offers an authentic Balinese culinary experience through its signature dish—Balinese mixed rice (nasi campur)—and a variety of unique side dishes infused with traditional spices.

Although modest in size, with seating for just around 16 guests, this cozy eatery makes a lasting impression. Opened as a physical outlet in 2024 after starting as an online business in 2022, Bali Dari Selatan instantly stands out with its charming Balinese-inspired decor.

From the fragrant air and soft Balinese instrumental music to its warm, dim lighting, the ambiance is both intimate and inviting. Guests can also choose to dine al fresco at the small row of seats outside, perfect for basking in the sun.

The star of the show here is undoubtedly their Nasi Campur Jakarta Selatan—a hearty platter featuring chicken sate lilit, red yeast rice (angkak) chicken satay, chicken betutu, beef sei, salted squid, lawar, and sambal matah. To top it off, a separate bowl of betutu broth is served, enriching the dish with deep galangal and candlenut notes.

The smoky and spicy red yeast rice chicken satay delivers a bold punch, while the sate lilit offers a more delicate, savoury bite. Beef sei and salted squid act as perfect palate balancers, complementing the richness of the other elements. The lawar, a vegetable mix, brings out fragrant lemongrass and galangal flavors, tying the dish together beautifully.
For those looking for something simpler, the Nasi Betutu Kremes Base Wangen is an excellent choice. This version features juicy fried chicken with crispy 'kremesan', served with long beans, fried peanuts, sambal matah, and a side of betutu sauce. It’s a lighter yet still satisfying option for diners who want a balanced but less overwhelming meal.

Want to add more crunch? Try the Rambak Siram, a clever twist on skin crackers served Padang-style—soaked in rich, aromatic betutu sauce. It's a flavour-packed treat for fans of texture and spice.

To end your meal on a sweet note, go for the Pisang Molen Madu. These crunchy banana rolls are filled with sweet, creamy banana, dusted with powdered sugar, and paired with honey that adds just the right touch of sweetness without being overpowering.

For a refreshing drink, Es Kopi Dari Selatan—a cool blend of iced coffee and palm sugar—makes for a smooth and energizing sip, perfect for keeping the mood up between bites.

Bali Dari Selatan may be small in size, but it delivers big on flavour, warmth, and authenticity. Whether you're a Balinese food enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this little gem in South Jakarta is definitely worth a visit.
