An Exquisite Wine and Dine Experience at The Coach Restaurant
The menu at The Coach Restaurant showcases iconic New York steakhouse classics, featuring mouthwatering options such as strip steak, succulent lamb chops, shrimp cocktail, and a refreshing wedge salad, all perfectly complemented by a classic martini.
On October 31, 2024, The Coach Restaurant hosted a special wine and dine event titled “Sip, Savour, and Discover.” This exquisite three-course dinner, priced at IDR 899,000++, was led by Gabriel Jamias, the Executive Chef, alongside Togu Sahat Nainggolan, Indonesia's Best Sommelier 2013. Enhancing the experience, a selection of Rutherford wines was thoughtfully curated to awaken the senses and provide the perfect wine pairing.
The dinner began with Chips & Truffle as the amuse-bouche, featuring mountainous and generous slices of crispy potato paired with black truffle and its winter-infused skin. This dish is beautifully complemented by morel mushrooms, providing a rich, earthy flavor. The combination of medium-starch textures and the savory saltiness of Parmigiano cheese.
For the amuse-bouche, the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut impresses with its strength and silkiness, offering a softer effervescence that perfectly balances aromatic intensity with refreshing freshness. This harmonious blend of flavors makes it an ideal aperitif and a delightful Champagne to accompany the starter course.
The appetizer, Oyster & Caviar, was presented with flair on ice, featuring a Canadian oyster drizzled with herb oil infused with a medley of herbs like tarragon and chives, along with a touch of extra virgin olive oil. This vibrant combination awakens the appetite and introduces an earthy richness to the palate. The oyster was perfectly paired with a 2021 Morgan Bay Chardonnay from California, USA. This full-bodied, dry wine offers a subtle hint of sweetness in the aftertaste, complementing the oyster beautifully.
The main course featured a mouthwatering New York Strip Steak, showcasing jade pure Australian Wagyu MB9+ accompanied by a rich truffle mushroom sauce. Sourced from Queensland, Australia, the steak may not be as buttery tender but is nonetheless juicy and flavorful, melting delightfully in the mouth with each bite.
To elevate the red meat course, it’s perfectly paired with a glass of Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, USA, 2017. This elegant red wine blends seamlessly with the steak, enhancing its flavors and adding a layer of robustness that beautifully complements the meal.
For a sweet finale, The Coach Restaurant presented a delightful White Chocolate and Berries Pie for dessert. Featuring a luscious combination of strawberries, blueberries, and white chocolate ganache, this dish strikes the perfect balance with its light sweetness. It isn’t overly sweet, offering a refreshing finish that beautifully cleanses the palate.
To conclude the exquisite wine and dinner session, a 2018 Rutherford Ranch Merlot from Napa Valley, USA, was served, ensuring a memorable climax to the evening. This luxurious wine features flavors of rich milk chocolate-covered blueberries, culminating in a long, lingering finish complemented by round, well-integrated tannins that enhance the overall dining experience.
