A Dish Rooted in Tradition
Originating in Valencia in the mid-19th century, paella was first prepared by farmers over open flames, combining rice with the freshest available ingredients. Over time, it grew into a symbol of family gatherings, festivity, and regional pride. Its name derives from the wide, shallow pan in which it is cooked—allowing each grain of rice to absorb layers of flavor while forming the prized socarrat, the caramelized crust at the bottom.
