British School Jakarta Model United Nations 2025

British School Jakarta (BSJ) hosted its largest Model United Nations (MUN) conference from February 7-9, welcoming 200 participants from 26 schools across Jakarta. The event provided a platform for diplomatic debate, intellectual engagement, and collaboration.

Under the theme 'Power, Politics, and the Failure of Diplomacy,' delegates explored global issues such as the U.S.-China trade war and women's role in governance. Lively discussions led to resolutions proposing innovative solutions. Delegates also developed skills in public speaking, research, and negotiation while expanding their professional networks.

A key highlight was the participation of the Refugee Learning Center delegation, whose students, supported by BSJ-led training, excelled in debate and expressed interest in returning in 2026. Distinguished guest speakers, including Yenny Wahid, Ardi Sutedja, Cynthia Sipahutar, Astari Minarti, and Somil Nagpal, shared insights on diplomacy and leadership.

BSJMUN 2025 was led by Secretary-General Riyana, Deputy Secretaries-General Zaara and Bradley, and a team of 37 Undersecretary-Generals and volunteers. Fourteen student Chairs facilitated discussions under the guidance of BSJ teacher advisors Regina Tantri, Gabrielle Wong, Esther Birch, and Kamal Aziz.

Supported by sponsors including Amazon Web Services, Red Pumpkin AI, Rotiboy, and Hatiku Floral Art, as well as media partners ACS Jakarta Model Congress Club, Global Diplomat Society, and IICS MUN Club, the event reaffirmed BSJ’s commitment to fostering future leaders.

Through rigorous training and inclusive debate, BSJMUN continues to inspire the next generation of changemakers, reinforcing diplomacy as a catalyst for global progress.
