The Jakarta Provincial Government has begun construction on a circular pedestrian deck in Dukuh Atas, one of Jakarta’s busiest transit hubs.
Pramono Anung, the Jakarta Governor, announced the construction as a gift for Jakarta residents on the city’s 499th anniversary.
This infrastructure will serve as a vital connector, integrating the entire Dukuh Atas transit area as a key public transportation hub in the capital. Designed in a circular shape resembling a ring, the structure will span approximately 118 metres in diameter and 12 metres in width.
The project aims to strengthen integration between multiple transport modes, including the MRT Jakarta, TransJakarta, KRL Commuter Line, Airport Rail Link, LRT Jabodebek, and LRT Jakarta. It’s also expected to help reduce traffic congestion in the Dukuh Atas area.
Currently, one of the key causes of congestion is passengers gathering along roadsides when switching between transport modes. By providing a dedicated pedestrian connection, the new deck aims to eliminate this bottleneck.
“This will enable true seamless mobility—people won’t have to deal with extreme weather conditions when transferring,” said Anung.
He also added that the project could help boost usage of the Airport Rail Link, which has yet to reach its full potential, especially with plans for city check-in integration.

The construction is fully funded by MRT Jakarta and will also include integrated commercial spaces aligned with pedestrian flow.
The steady progress of Jakarta’s public transport system has shown signs. Jakarta currently ranks second in ASEAN for public transport, just behind Singapore, and places eighth in Asia and 17th globally.
