Djournal Unveils Djournal Monster Café,

A Creative Hub Celebrating Indonesian Coffee, Art, and Talent

Djournal, ISMAYA Group's homegrown coffee brand, proudly re-introduces Djournal Monster Café at its flagship store in Pasaraya Blok M, marking a new milestone in its journey to celebrate Indonesian pride through coffee, creativity, and local talent. Featuring the signature visual works of internationally acclaimed Indonesian artist Darbotz, the initiative reflects Djournal's commitment to championing Indonesian coffee while bringing together art, design, and community within one connected creative ecosystem.

Guided by its philosophy of Make Every Day Exciting and the spirit of Coffee, Community, Collaboration, Djournal believes that today's coffee shop has evolved beyond serving great coffee. It has become a place where people work, exchange ideas, build relationships, and find inspiration. Through this vision, Djournal continues to create spaces that grow alongside creators and communities while encouraging new forms of Indonesian creativity to flourish.

"This journey reflects how we envision the future of Djournal. We believe that a coffee shop today plays a much bigger role than simply serving coffee. It can become a place where ideas, creativity, communities, and Indonesian talent come together. Through this initiative, we want to demonstrate that the quality of Indonesian coffee deserves to stand alongside the creativity of our local talents. We hope Djournal continues to inspire new conversations, meaningful collaborations, and creative expression," said Bram Hendrata, CEO of ISMAYA Group.

Sharing the same vision, Darbotz believes creativity becomes even more meaningful when it is integrated into everyday life.

"I've always believed that art becomes more meaningful when it exists within everyday experiences. Coffee shops are living spaces where people from different backgrounds and stories naturally come together. When Djournal invited me to be part of this initiative, I immediately saw a shared vision—to bring Indonesian creativity closer to the public. I hope this space sparks new conversations, inspires people, and creates meaningful connections," said Darbotz.

The experience is brought to life by Mahavisual, an Indonesian Art & Experience Lab, which translated Djournal's spirit and Darbotz's visual identity into an immersive spatial experience through the characters Bizzy, Izzy, and Cozzy, representing positivity, creativity, and the energy of everyday life.

Located in the heart of Pasaraya Blok M, a district long recognized as one of Jakarta's cultural and creative landmarks, the flagship store serves as the starting point of Djournal's next chapter. Designed as an evolving destination, the space will continue to grow alongside artists, creators, and communities, introducing new perspectives over time while remaining rooted in Djournal's inclusive and welcoming identity.

This vision is realized through three core pillars.

The first is coffee craftsmanship, expressed through a dual-bar concept featuring both an Espresso Bar and a Manual Brew Bar. Using 100% Indonesian Arabica beans, guests can enjoy a wide range of brewing methods—from espresso-based beverages and manual brews to cold brews—tailored to individual preferences.

The second pillar embraces circular innovation through a collaboration with Bell Living Lab. Materials used across the café's façade and bar area are created by transforming spent coffee grounds into functional interior elements with distinctive visual character. A total of 288.75 kilograms of coffee waste, equivalent to approximately 8,863 cups of coffee, has been repurposed into one of the café's signature design features, demonstrating how material innovation can seamlessly coexist with functional and aesthetic design.

Completing the experience is the spatial design by renowned architectural firm FFFAAARRR, whose expressive design approach creates a versatile environment that accommodates individual work sessions, meetings, brainstorming, casual gatherings, and community activities.

The same spirit is reflected in the Djournal Monster Series, a collection of signature beverages inspired by Indonesian flavors through a contemporary lens. Apple Pomelo Cold Brew combines the refreshing notes of apple and pomelo, inspired by Malang apples and Indonesian pomelo. Enting Enting Latte reimagines the beloved traditional peanut brittle snack with caramelized peanut flavors and crunchy enting-enting topping, while Enting Enting Chocolate offers a non-coffee alternative featuring rich chocolate, caramelized peanut notes, and the signature crunch of enting-enting as a modern interpretation of local flavors.

As part of the initiative, Djournal also collaborates with Hydro Flask and Baller Indonesia to launch a limited-edition merchandise collection that brings together functionality, design, and lifestyle—extending the creative experience beyond the café itself.

This is only the beginning. Looking ahead, Djournal will continue creating spaces where coffee, creativity, and community intersect through collaborations with Indonesian talents. Because for Djournal, every cup of coffee is more than what is served—it is about the stories shared, the ideas created, and the connections formed around it.
