Following its warm reception in Bali, Tonton Ramen Bar, a concept by KAWANO Group, is set to open its second outlet in Jakarta at Midplaza, Sudirman on 18 May 2026. Continuing its commitment to authentic Japanese craftsmanship, the new location introduces a more focused and intentional concept, centered around only two signature ramen selections that represent the essence of the brand.

 

As the first original Kumamoto ramen, introduced by KAWANO Group, Tonton Ramen Bar highlights the richness and depth of traditional Japanese ramen culture while embracing modern interpretation through carefully curated flavors. Known for its signature use of Kogashi Ninniku, a special black garlic carefully deep-fried to perfection, Tonton delivers a distinctive smoky aroma and depth of flavor that defines its ramen experience.

 

Further emphasizing its dedication to authenticity, Tonton prepares its broth using a traditional Hagama (large iron pot), a classic Japanese cooking method known for extracting deeper flavor and richness. The signature pork-based tonkotsu broth is slowly simmered for up to 36 hours, resulting in a creamy, layered broth with remarkable depth and character.

 

Leading the experience is the Original Tonkotsu Tamana Ramen, created from the authentic recipe of Tamana, the birthplace of the distinctive Kumamoto ramen style. The bowl showcases a rich tonkotsu broth layered with depth and signature Kumamoto character, complemented by delicately sliced char-grilled pork chashu, cut exceptionally thin to achieve a texture that is tender, buttery, and almost melt-in-your-mouth, with a subtle smoky aroma that enhances the overall experience.

 

Complementing the Tonkotsu ramen is the Original Tori Paitan Ramen, an exclusive creation developed by Tonton Ramen Bar as a tribute to Bali, the birthplace of the brand’s first outlet. This innovative interpretation combines creamy chicken broth with the refreshing boldness of Balinese sambal matah and lemon slices, creating a unique balance between Japanese comfort food and Indonesian coastal flavors. The sambal matah adds a richer depth and subtle crunch to the bowl, elevating both texture and flavor while remaining grounded in Japanese culinary craftsmanship.

 

 

Designed with a more intimate and refined atmosphere, the Midplaza outlet reflects Tonton’s evolving identity and aims to deliver consistency, quality, and a deeper appreciation for each flavor profile. Tonton was created from our passion to introduce authentic Kumamoto, with our Jakarta expansion, we want guests to experience both the authenticity of Japan and the story of how the brand was born in Bali.
