Long story short, Chandra Drews, the visionary behind Warung Pak Chandra, embarked on his culinary journey in 2002 at a Thai restaurant in Manchester, England. His passion for food led him to establish a catering business in 2016, but the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic forced its closure. Undeterred, Chandra persevered and fulfilled his dream by opening Warung Pak Chandra in November 2022.
Drawing from Chandra Drews' culinary journey, Warung Pak Chandra offers a unique fusion of local Indonesian dishes infused with vibrant Thai flavours. By incorporating identical spices and complementary ingredients from Thailand.
Warung Pak Chandra boasts a selection of Thai-inspired signature dishes, including the notorious Gulai Daging Chiangmai and Sop Iga Pattaya to name a few, each infused with distinct Thai elements.
Gulai Daging Chiangmai is a culinary masterpiece, featuring a rich, aromatic broth infused with fresh herbs. Served alongside potatoes, and topped with a generous sprinkling of fried onions and chopped coriander leaves, the fusion of Indonesian and Thai flavors is boldly pronounced. The use of coriander roots as a key ingredient adds depth and complexity to this delectable dish.
Not only is it delicious, Gulai Daging Chiangmai offers a delightful balance of spicy and slightly sweet flavours. Best paired with either white or brown rice, this hearty dish satisfies the palate with its bold taste profile.
Meanwhile, Sop Iga Pattaya presents a refreshing departure from traditional Indonesian rib soups, offering a lighter yet flavourful alternative.
