Gran Meliá Jakarta celebrated love in its most graceful form through Celestial Elegance, a two-day wedding showcase held on 15–16 November 2025 at Tien Chao, the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant. The event brought together cultural heritage, modern sophistication, and artistic expression in a refined celebration that resonated with couples preparing for their most special moments.
Gran Meliá Jakarta Hosts Celestial Elegance
From 11:00 AM to 09:00 PM, guests explored the timeless beauty of Chinese wedding culture, thoughtfully reinterpreted for contemporary tastes. The showcase featured some of Jakarta’s most renowned wedding professionals, including makeup artist Vidi Daniel, photography and videography team Lumineux, and Studio Vian, known for its exquisite gowns that blend classic silhouettes with modern design. Completing the curated lineup were Christin Wu, SAS & Nan Qi Pao, Peggy Sharon, Riviera Wedding Organizer, Luxio Photo, Swan Decoration, Omorfia, Dewwi Entertainment, Métier Jewelry, Leciel Acc, and other valued collaborators.
More than a display of aesthetics, Celestial Elegance paid homage to the traditions that shape Chinese weddings. Through rituals like the Sangjit Ceremony, celebrated for its symbolism of respect, unity, and prosperity, the event highlighted how Tien Chao’s elegant ambiance—warm-toned interiors and intricate Chinese detailing—provides an ideal backdrop for intimate celebrations such as sangjit events or wedding banquets.
Couples were also invited to indulge in a specially prepared tasting menu by Tien Chao’s culinary team. Signature dishes such as Hot and Sour Seafood with Crab Meat, Roasted Crispy Duck with Hoisin Sauce, and Wok-Fried Beef Cubed with Black Pepper Sauce were paired with delicate desserts including Chilled Coconut with Lychee, Red Dates, and Lemon and Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with Longan Syrup and Wolfberries. With only 25 seats available per lunch and dinner session, couples enjoyed a personalized introduction to the flavors that could elevate their wedding banquet experience.
In addition to Tien Chao, Gran Meliá Jakarta showcased its diverse venues for weddings of various sizes and styles. The highlight of the night was Studio Vian’s Shanghai ’62, a captivating bridal collection inspired by the moody elegance of 1960s Shanghai and the cinematic spirit of In the Mood for Love.
Shanghai ’62 explored the delicate tension between restraint and rebellion. The gowns showcased a poetic fusion of East and West—traditional silhouettes enhanced by modern tailoring, intricate hand-beaded details, and bold architectural lines. From velvet tops paired with French lace skirts to shimmering jacquard cheongsams, each piece embodied craftsmanship, emotion, and timeless allure. Some designs were inspired by “silk secrets whispered in hallways,” echoing the quiet passion of old Shanghai’s golden era.
Supported by Riviera Wedding Organizer, the evening featured seamless coordination and creative contributions from Vidi Daniel (MUA), Lumineux, Christin Wu (Shoes), Kala Wedding (Décor), Peggy Sharon (Stylist), Anthony Stevven (MC), Omorfia (Sound & Guzheng Performance), Connectied (RSVP), and Creatifypro (Lighting). Tien Chao’s signature Cantonese dishes complemented the event, further embedding culinary artistry into the experience.
