THE ASCOTT LIMITED INDONESIA EARNS GLOBAL SUSTAINBLE TOURISM  COUNCIL (GSTC) CERTIFICATION ACROSS MULTIPLE SITES

The Ascott Limited Indonesia has officially become the first hospitality company in  Indonesia to achieve Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification across multiple properties,  solidifying its position as a leader in responsible travel and sustainable hospitality.

The GSTC certification is a globally recognized standard for sustainable tourism, established to promote  the best practices in environmental, social, cultural, and management aspects of the travel and hospitality  industry. Certified organizations are assessed based on rigorous criteria that ensure a genuine and holistic  commitment to sustainability, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This landmark achievement reinforces Ascott’s long-term dedication to operating responsibly, uplifting  local communities, and fostering a culture of care and accountability. Each participating property was  evaluated against globally recognized GSTC criteria to ensure high standards in sustainable practices.

The multi-site certification spans six strategic properties: Ascott Kuningan Jakarta, Ascott Sudirman  Jakarta, Ascott Jakarta, Somerset Grand Citra Jakarta, Citadines Gatot Subroto Jakarta, Citadines Sudirman  Jakarta, and Citadines Berawa Beach Bali. Each location underwent in-depth assessments covering  environmental management, cultural preservation, guest engagement, and community participation.

In addition to the certified properties, The Ascott Limited Indonesia as a corporate entity has also been  awarded GSTC certification. This dual recognition underscores both the operational excellence on-site and  the strategic leadership driving sustainability at all organizational levels.

Philip Barnes, Country General Manager for The Ascott Limited Indonesia, shared “This achievement  marks a proud milestone for our teams across the country. Sustainability is not a campaign; it is a daily  responsibility. We are dedicated to embedding meaningful practices into every aspect of our operations,  ensuring our commitment to people, planet, and purpose resonates with every guest and every community  we touch.”

This recognition also aligns with CapitaLand Investments (CLI) 2030 Sustainability Master Plan, which  outlines measurable goals in areas such as carbon reduction, operational efficiency, and social contribution.  The certification complements the company’s global sustainability framework, Ascott CARES, which  stands for Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply Chain. Guided by these pillars, Ascott  CARES drives responsible practices, ranging from reducing environmental footprint and supporting local  economies to ethical supply chain management and social inclusion. These principles are embedded in day to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.

The GSTC certification is a significant step forward in The Ascott Limited Indonesia’s journey to shape a  more sustainable and resilient future for hospitality. For more information on Ascott CARES and our  sustainability initiatives, please visit: https://www.discoverasr.com/en/ascott-cares
