Agatha Pricilla and Jeje Soekarno Bring New Life to Jersey Boys in Jakarta
The acclaimed musical Jersey Boys is set to captivate Jakarta audiences with the addition of Indonesian talents Agatha Pricilla and Jeje Soekarno to its cast. The production will take the stage at Teater Besar, Taman Ismail Marzuki on 27–28 June 2026, marking a special presentation of the internationally celebrated show.
Based on the true story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Jersey Boys traces the rise of the iconic group—Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi—from humble beginnings to global stardom. Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1960s America, the musical offers a compelling narrative of ambition, brotherhood, and the cost of success, brought to life through timeless hits such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Sherry.”
Agatha Pricilla steps into the role of Mary Delgado, Frankie Valli’s first wife, portraying a character defined by confidence and resilience, layered with emotional depth. Her performance is expected to bring nuance to a figure who balances strength with vulnerability.
Meanwhile, Jeje Soekarno takes on the role of Bob Crewe, the visionary producer and songwriter instrumental in shaping the group’s success. The character’s dynamic presence adds color to the story, bridging artistry and the music industry.
This Jakarta staging forms part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Jersey Boys, presented through a collaboration between Nawanika Production and Jakarta Art House. Internationally, the musical has earned widespread recognition, including four Tony Awards—among them Best Musical (2006)—as well as a Grammy Award for Best Musical Album. The production has been performed across major cities worldwide, from the United States and the United Kingdom to Australia, Japan, and Singapore.
Narendra Pryottama, Executive Producer, shared that the Jakarta production aims to create a meaningful connection with local audiences while preserving the essence of the original show. Dialogue will be delivered in Bahasa Indonesia, while the musical numbers remain in English, offering a natural and engaging bilingual experience.
