THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa Launches Pop Up Warung Jaksel, Celebrating Jakarta's Culinary Heritage for the City's 499th Anniversary

In celebration of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary and as part of PHM HOTELS' annual Wisata Gastronomi (Gastronomy Journey) program, Dwangsa9 Indonesian Restaurant at THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa proudly introduces Pop Up Warung Jaksel: Rasa Kuliner Ibu Kota. This culinary initiative offers guests an authentic Indonesian dining experience inspired by traditional local eateries, thoughtfully reimagined with the comfort and elegance of a modern hotel restaurant.

Inspired by Jakarta's rich culinary identity, Pop Up Warung Jaksel recreates the warmth and familiarity of Indonesia's traditional warung makan while embracing the convenience and contemporary lifestyle of today's urban community. The concept pays tribute to the nation's diverse culinary heritage, inviting guests to rediscover authentic Indonesian flavors through a premium yet approachable dining experience.

The name "Pop Up Warung Jaksel" reflects the concept behind the dining experience itself. The word "Warung" is inspired by Warteg (short for Warung Tegal), one of Indonesia's most iconic dining establishments, known for serving a wide selection of homemade dishes displayed traditional buffet-style, allowing guests to choose their preferred combinations of freshly prepared local specialties. Meanwhile, "Jaksel" is the widely recognized abbreviation for Jakarta Selatan (South Jakarta), a vibrant district celebrated for its dynamic urban lifestyle, thriving culinary scene, and diverse community. Together, the name represents a contemporary interpretation of Indonesia's beloved neighborhood eatery, where authentic home-style flavors meet the modern lifestyle of South Jakarta.

The launch of Pop Up Warung Jaksel is part of PHM HOTELS' Wisata Gastronomi, an annual culinary campaign designed to showcase Indonesia's rich gastronomic heritage as an integral part of the country's travel and cultural experiences. Through this initiative, each participating hotel presents authentic local flavors that reflect the unique identity of its destination. In celebration of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa proudly contributes by presenting Pop Up Warung Jaksel, highlighting the capital city's iconic culinary traditions while introducing Indonesia's diverse gastronomy to a wider audience.

Beyond commemorating Jakarta's anniversary, Pop Up Warung Jaksel has also been created as a practical premium lunch destination, offering high-quality Indonesian cuisine at accessible prices. The program is designed for office professionals, families, groups of friends, and young urban diners seeking authentic local flavors in a comfortable and contemporary setting.

Guests can enjoy four signature dishes that celebrate the richness of Indonesian cuisine:
• Soto Betawi – IDR 145,000 nett per serving
• Nasi Campur Nusantara Series – IDR 50,000 nett per serving
• Bir Pletok – IDR 45,000 nett per glass
• Selendang Mayang – IDR 45,000 nett per serving

The promotion is available exclusively from Monday to Friday, between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and will run until August 2026 at Dwangsa9 Indonesian Restaurant, THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa.

More than simply offering authentic Indonesian cuisine, Pop Up Warung Jaksel delivers a unique dining atmosphere that blends the hospitality of a premium hotel restaurant with the nostalgic charm of Indonesia's traditional eateries. Prepared using carefully selected ingredients by the hotel's experienced culinary team, every dish is crafted to evoke familiar flavors while delivering an elevated gastronomic experience.

Eva Rosdiana, General Manager of THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa, shared that the initiative reflects the hotel's commitment to preserving Indonesia's culinary heritage while creating dining experiences that resonate with Jakarta's dynamic urban lifestyle.

"Jakarta is a city shaped by the richness of its diverse cultures, traditions, and, of course, its remarkable culinary heritage. Through Pop Up Warung Jaksel, we invite the community to celebrate Jakarta's 499th Anniversary by enjoying dishes that have long been part of the city's identity, thoughtfully presented in a more contemporary and comfortable setting. As part of PHM HOTELS' Wisata Gastronomi program, we hope this initiative will become not only a preferred lunch destination but also inspire greater appreciation for Indonesia's culinary heritage as a cultural legacy that deserves to be preserved and celebrated," said Eva Rosdiana, General Manager of THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa.

Adding a personal culinary touch to the program, Chef Yoelianto, Executive Chef of Dwangsa9 Indonesian Restaurant shared that the featured dishes were carefully selected to celebrate Jakarta's culinary identity while embracing the diversity of Indonesian flavors.

"Soto Betawi was an obvious choice because it is one of Jakarta's most iconic culinary treasures, offering rich, comforting flavors that have been enjoyed across generations. Alongside it, our Nasi Campur Nusantara Series reflects Indonesia's incredible culinary diversity by bringing together regional specialties in a single, satisfying meal. Through these dishes, we wanted to create a dining experience that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, allowing guests to reconnect with familiar Indonesian flavors while enjoying the quality and hospitality of Dwangsa9 Indonesian Restaurant," said Chef Yoel, the Executive Chef of Dwangsa9 Indonesian Restaurant.

With Pop Up Warung Jaksel, THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa once again reinforces its commitment to delivering innovative culinary experiences that go beyond current trends by celebrating Indonesia's rich cultural identity through authentic gastronomy. In line with the spirit of PHM HOTELS' Wisata Gastronomi, the program is expected to become one of Jakarta's must-visit culinary destinations during the city's anniversary celebration while enriching the community's appreciation for the diverse flavors of the archipelago.
