In flash news, President Joko Widodo called on all Indonesians to be proud of having batik as the nation's cultural heritage during the "Istana Berbatik" event. The event was held at the courtyard of the Jakarta Merdeka Palace showcasing the Batik fashion show, held on a 150-meter-long stage against the backdrop of the Merdeka Palace. Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo officiated the operation of Whoosh high-speed train on Monday. The train that connects Jakarta and Bandung runs for 142.3 kilometers. Click here for the full story. The newly-launched high-speed railway named Whoosh will be free until mid-October. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said this was in consideration of the public's high enthusiasm for the country’s first bullet train.
