The legend returns! After a show-stopping debut that delighted Jakarta’s culinary crowd in 2023, Chef Motokichi Yukimura is back this May—ready to serve up his world-famous omurice at Café Kissa. Known for its irresistible texture and dramatic presentation, his signature dish promises another round of unforgettable dining where masterful cooking meets high-energy performance. Last year’s response was nothing short of phenomenal, and this encore is for everyone who didn’t get a chance to witness the magic live.
The Culinary Icon Chef Motokichi Yukimura Returns to Café Kissa
Bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever, Chef Yukimura returns to Café Kissa, a charming modern Japanese eatery that artfully blends tradition with innovation. With limited seats and just three days to catch the show, this is a rare and special opportunity for culinary enthusiasts, loyal fans, and first-time diners to see the legend in action.
At the center of this culinary phenomenon is none other than Chef Motokichi Yukimura, the spirited chef behind Kyoto’s beloved Kichi Kichi Omurice. With his iconic red hat, electric knife work, and infectious charisma, Chef Yukimura has transformed a humble dish into a viral art form. Millions have watched him online as he slices into the omelette, unleashing a molten, custardy center that flows like golden lava—turning a simple meal into pure theater.

Kichi Kichi Omurice isn’t your average comfort food. While it may appear as a simple dish—ketchup-flavored rice crowned with a fluffy omelette—what elevates it is the perfect execution and signature flourish. The omelette, soft and slightly runny, is delicately sliced to reveal its silky interior that gracefully envelopes the rice. Finished with a savory demi-glace, it’s a beautiful blend of textures and flavors: tangy, creamy, rich, and utterly satisfying. This is comfort food reimagined, with a dash of drama and a whole lot of heart.
This exclusive three-day omurice showcase will take place at Café Kissa from May 20 to 22, 2025. Guests can enjoy a thoughtfully crafted set menu that celebrates both the signature dish and the venue’s character. Each course is designed to offer a full sensory journey, with optional pairings of beer or cocktails available at an added cost to heighten the experience.

The Café Kissa menu begins with a punch of umami: gyoza with miso burnt butter—crispy, savory, and decadently rich. For a light and refreshing finale, guests will be served tokoroten, a delicate jelly dessert offering a palate-cleansing finish. Throughout the meal, pure sencha tea provides a clean, aromatic balance that ties everything together beautifully.
“The response to Chef Yukimura’s visit in 2023 was beyond our expectations,” says Cendyarani, President Director of Ismaya Group. “Bringing him back reflects our commitment to creating unforgettable moments through food. This event is exactly that—an experience that lingers long after the last bite.”
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Jakarta,” says Chef Motokichi Yukimura. “The warmth and excitement here are truly special. Cooking for my Indonesian friends again is an honor, and I look forward to bringing joy to each guest—one omurice at a time.”
