Le Goût de France – A Taste of France, j’adore !

-

The French Embassy in Indonesia, Institut Français Indonesia (IFI), and Business France Indonesia, with support from Les Disciples d'Escoffier, are organizing French Gastronomy Week entitled "Le Goût de France - The Taste of France, j'adore!" which will be held on 12-19 October 2023 in more than 60 restaurants throughout Indonesia. Adapting the Le Goût de France festival initiated by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and Chef Alain Ducasse in 2015, "This year's Taste of France offers a variety of gastronomic and culinary activities.

The aim of this event is to share the richness and diversity of French gastronomic dishes which since 2010 have been listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Collaborating with many partners, such as restaurants, chefs, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, vocational schools, universities, companies, distributors and media, the series of activities offered must be useful for a diverse audience. For eight days, e Goût de France - A Taste of France, J'adore!" will hold various activities, such as cooking demonstrations, workshops, discussions, competitions, film screenings, meetings, or French-style dinners served at many restaurants in Indonesia , "I observed that Indonesians show their interest while participating in activities, whether it is recreation, traditional celebration parties or even professional activities. Their adhesive medium is culinary. The term "culinary tourism" is very popular in Indonesia. "Therefore, holding "Taste of Indonesia" is important for us because it allows us to show that French cuisine deserves to be part of the culinary experience of Indonesians," said Fabien Penone, French Ambassador to Indonesia.

In order to organize "Le Goût de France - A Taste of France, j'adore!", various events will be held in a number of cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Pasuruan, Bali, Makassar, Jambi, and Medan. In the context of the post-pandemic recovery of the culinary and gastronomic industry, "Le Goût de France-Taste France" is collaborating for its first year with more than 60 restaurants that will serve various typical French dishes. Without imposing a mandatory menu, the chefs at each restaurant are free to express their creativity by offering special French-style menus.

In addition to serving French dishes in these restaurants, another important event is also held as part of "Le Goût de France - A Taste of France", from September to October 6. This activity is a French recipe competition on Instagram. This competition is open to the public, and the 10 best recipe videos will compete in the grand final on October 19 2023. For this reason, a jury team was formed, consisting of several French chefs who are experts in their fields, including Gilles Marx. The winner of the competition will win a round-trip plane ticket to France from Qatar Airways, as well as funding assistance (fixed rate) for a one-week trip and a visa.

From the business side, Business France will also hold a B2B program for entrepreneurs and Indonesian and French distributors as part of the "Le Goût de France-Taste of France" event.

The opening event and press conference to be held on October 12 2023 will be attended by the French Ambassador to Indonesia, the French Embassy's Cooperation & Cultural Counselor, the French Embassy's Trade Counselor, and the President of Disciples Escoffier Indonesia. Apart from that, Masterchef Alumni from various seasons will also attend this event.
