We invite you to join AmCham’s Economic Forum, Indonesia’s Economy 2023: A Candid Look, on Wednesday, Feb 8, 2023 at 09:00–10:00, featuring Bank Mandiri’s Chief Economist Andry Asmoro.
While the government officially revoked PPKM and the Covid-19 pandemic is transitioning to endemic, Indonesia’s economy this year is anticipating higher external downside risks coming from elevated inflation, higher interest rates, and the threat of stagflation. However, the government is optimistic the economy will remain resilient with expected annual growth of 5.3 percent.
President Joko Widodo has reminded us to be vigilant, despite positive predictions for the economy. Finding a balance between controlling inflation by increasing interest rates, and anticipating recession by lowering interest rates to stimulate the economy, could create a dilemma for policy makers. Meddled with increasing political interests ahead of the political year, it’s not going to be a smooth, polished way ahead.
What will this mean for business? AmCham’s first Economic Forum in 2023 will look at Indonesia’s economic outlook this year, potential government policies to anticipate, and industry trends. The forum also serves as a platform for participants to put forward their burning questions on the economy, and have candid discussions with our distinguished speaker.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, Feb 7, 2023. Looking forward to an amazing forum!
