Archipelago International

Archipelago International, the largest hotel operator in Southeast Asia, hosted an iftar event with 60 residents of Kampung Gasong from 30 families at Dapur Solo, Matraman on April 1, 2024. This event demonstrates Archipelago International's steadfast commitment to those in need, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Kampung Gasong, also known as 'Gashonk,' is a residential area located in Menteng Atas, South Jakarta. It is home to individuals who work hard to make a living by collecting and selling secondhand goods. As a form of support and care, Archipelago International took the initiative to organize an iftar event aimed at spreading happiness and compassion among less fortunate individuals.

"At Archipelago International, we believe in social responsibility to the surrounding community and the importance of supporting those in need. Our iftar event with the residents of Kampung Gasong reflects our commitment to spreading happiness and compassion, especially during this holy month of Ramadan," said John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International.

The event invited families dedicated to environmental preservation residing in Kampung Gasong, along with representatives from the media, the corporate team of Archipelago International, and community leaders from Kampung Gasong. At this iftar event, residents of Kampung Gasong had the opportunity to taste delicious food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. In addition to breaking the fast together, the attending residents of Gasong Village Preservation Family who attended also received a supply of necessities consisting of rice, powdered milk, cooking oil and other essential needs and also gifts. The event included religious lectures, games with the children from Kampung Gasong, fostering a sense of unity and support within the community.

This initiative reflects Archipelago International's commitment to social responsibility to the surrounding community. By building unity and support within the community, Archipelago International aims to make a meaningful impact and spread positivity, especially during this Ramadan.
