As the first high-speed railway in Southeast Asia, we can now enjoy unprecedented speed, significantly reducing travel time between Bandung and Jakarta. The railway officially commenced operations on October 2, 2023, introducing the "Whoosh", designed to transport over 600 passengers between the two cities in just 45 minutes.
Our journey begins at Tegalluar station, destined for Halim station. Once comfortably seated, the train sets in motion, gradually accelerating. As it does, we can easily monitor the current speed on the front LED display, ranging from 140 km/h to an impressive 350 km/h. The journey unfolds with remarkable smoothness, boasting very minimal vibrations and noises. Beyond the windows, the landscape transforms into a fleeting canvas, its vibrant details blending into a blur as the train accelerates to higher speeds.
The seats, adorned with suede fabric and head pillows, provide the utmost comfort throughout the trip. Each seat is thoughtfully equipped with an armrest, folding table, and a power socket. These modern and luxurious amenities contribute to a sense of security and comfort, making us feel as though we've been seamlessly transported to another city.
After 45 minutes, we finally arrived at Halim station. The punctuality of the schedule dispels any concerns about important plans, given the remarkably brief travel time. Halim Station serves as the final destination for the Whoosh, passing through two stations if you depart from Tegalluar station: The Padalarang station and Karawang station.
In-Train Facilities
Whoosh offers three seating classes—Premium Economy, Business Class, and First Class (VIP). The First Class accommodates 18 seats arranged in a 1-2 seating configuration, each made from faux leather for a luxurious feel. Business Class comprises 28 seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration, and Premium Economy offers 555 seats in a 3-2 arrangement.
Additionally, comprehensive facilities have been designed to enhance passenger comfort. In the middle car, a mini cafe awaits, fully equipped with amenities such as a coffee machine and a variety of food and beverage options. Modernly designed toilets ensure a comfortable experience, with a dedicated facility catering to individuals with disabilities.
Station
Whoosh will operate the trip along the Tegalluar station and Halim station. Each station along the route reflects a commitment to luxury and cleanliness. Tegalluar station welcomes passengers with its sleek design and state-of-the-art facilities. The waiting areas exude modernity, adorned with comfortable seating.
Halim station continues this trend of opulence. The station boasts spacious platforms, impeccably clean surroundings and efficient services that contribute to a seamless transition for travelers.
How to Get Tickets for Whoosh
After President Joko Widodo officially launched the operations of the High-speed railway (Whoosh) on October 2, 2023, the government will provide free tickets until the middle of October. Tickets can be obtained by registering on the official website of the Indonesia-China High-Speed Train at ayonaik.kcic.co.id. After this free trial period, ticket purchases are available through the KAI Access mobile app and other online travel agents.
Ticket Prices
The ticket prices will range from Rp. 250,000 to Rp. 350,000, depending on the class, which includes Premium Economy to the First Class (VIP). These prices are considered affordable, considering the advantages offered by the High-speed railway, including state-of-the-art facilities and significantly reduced travel time.
Passengers can choose from various classes based on their preferences and budget. The premium economy class offers a comfortable travel experience at an accessible price point, while the first-class (VIP) option provides additional luxury amenities and services.
Access to Whoosh Stations
When traveling from Bandung to Jakarta, you have the flexibility to depart from either Tegalluar station or Padalarang station. Though Tegalluar station is situated a bit away from the city center, approximately a 40-minute ride, an alternative shuttle is provided from Damri Pool Gedebage and Summarecon Mall Bandung starting at 05:40 AM.
Access to Padalarang station is available from Bandung station via a feeder train, an included facilitation of your Whoosh ticket. It's crucial to take note of the feeder train schedule for a seamless connection with the high-speed railway. Bandung station offers an exclusive waiting room for feeder trains, eliminating concerns about waiting times. This access can be utilized in reverse for your trip from Jakarta to Bandung.
For those heading from Jakarta to Bandung, Halim station is accessible via the LRT train, specifically the LRT Jabodebek Bekasi line route. Keep in mind that LRT trains to Halim station have limited departures, occurring every hour. For a more efficient option, consider using taxi or online transportation directly to Halim station.
