The Embassy of France - Institut français d'Indonésie (IFI), in collaboration with Alliance Française Indonesia, Business France, and Disciples Escoffier Indonesia, is organizing the third edition of French Gastronomy Week entitled "Le Goût de France - Cita Rasa Prancis, j’adore!". This event celebrates the universal language of gastronomy and is dedicated to French, Indonesian, and international chefs who contribute to bringing the richness of French cuisine to Indonesia.
From 1 to 13 October, more than 140 restaurants spread across 40 cities and 10 islands in Indonesia will offer special menus and events centered on French gastronomy.

This year, the main focus remains on vocational training and knowledge transfer, which are key pillars in the development of gastronomy. More than 16 workshops will be conducted by instructors from the Centre de Formation d'Apprentis (CFA) Poitiers in France, along with trainers from Monin Sirop and Lesaffre, accompanied by renowned French chefs. These workshops provide Indonesian chefs, bakers, pastry chefs, beverage professionals, and young instructors with the opportunity to refine their culinary techniques.
These trainings are aligned with the ARIF Program (Apprentissage Restauration Indonésie-France), or the “French-Indonesian Culinary Apprenticeship Program,” which recently sent six Indonesian polytechnic and university students to France last August. They will undergo a two-year training program, including one year of apprenticeship, made possible through the support of Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), and CFA Poitiers in France.
The training program will culminate in the launch of the second edition of FITT (French Indonesian Training of Trainers on French Cooking for Vocational Education Training) on 13 October. Over three weeks, the Institut Escoffier will train 40 Indonesian educators at the BBPPMPV (Vocational Training Development Center) for Business and Tourism. Jointly funded by the Embassy of France - Institut français d’Indonésie and Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), this program aims to sustainably strengthen skills in culinary arts and pastry.
This third edition also welcomes the special arrival of Chef Andrée Rosier from Biarritz, France, holder of a Michelin star for her restaurant Les Rosiers. She was the first woman to win the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) award in gastronomy at the age of 28. Chef Andrée has also been honored with the Knight of the Legion of Honour by the French government.
Chef Andrée will visit several cities in Indonesia to lead culinary demonstrations and explore the wealth of Indonesian spices and cuisine. Her visit also aims to inspire young women aspiring to pursue careers as chefs, in a field still largely dominated by men. She will collaborate with local chefs to host gala dinners in Jakarta (Lyon, Mandarin Oriental Hotel), Medan (Mariott Hotel), and Yogyakarta (Tentrem Hotel).
Another highlight is the participation of culinary comic artist Guillaume Long, known for his series To Drink and To Eat. His illustrated culinary columns, originally published in Le Monde, have been compiled into books. Together with his wife, pastry chef Claire Geraghty, he will lead drawing workshops and culinary demonstrations in Jakarta, Makassar, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.

For aspiring chefs, a French recipe competition is open to the public via Instagram, with the finals to be held on 11 October in Jakarta. Ten finalists will be invited to compete for the grand prize: a round-trip ticket to Paris sponsored by Emirates Airlines.
From a professional perspective, Business France will host a new edition of Tastin’ France, a B2B event dedicated to wine.
The opening ceremony and press conference took place on 1 October at 3:30 PM (WIB), attended by H.E. Fabien Penone, Ambassador of France to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, as well as several officials and culinary figures. The event also featured a culinary demonstration by Chef Andrée Rosier, alongside Chef Jean-Yves Leuranguer, MOF 1996, now based in Bali, accompanied by local Chef I Kadek Sumiarta, third-place winner of the 2024 Escoffier Young Talents World Competition in Paris.

In Bandung, the program was also attended by Mr. Christophe Dreyer, Director of IFI Bandung. Participating restaurants and establishments in Bandung include The Papandayan Hotel (Pago Restaurant), Butterpie La Maison, DUH Baking Studio, Tortens, Warung Ubi Ibu, Wheels Coffee Roasters, Bien Patisserie, Bodas Bistro, Swiss-Belhotel Dago (Swiss Kitchen), and Zest Hotel (Citruz Restaurant).
