The Year of the Wood Snake is soon to arrive, bringing wishes of prosperity, good health, and boundless joy. What better way to honor this festive occasion than by sharing a sumptuous feast with loved ones? Our celebration unfolded at Tian Jing Lou restaurant in the InterContinental Bandung Dago Pakar, where the festive atmosphere was matched by the exceptional flavors. For this special season, the hotel offers two distinct dining experiences: a set menu at Tian Jing Lou and an indulgent buffet at Damai Restaurant.
The ambiance was steeped in festive cheer, with vibrant reds and golds dominating the decor, perfectly embodying the spirit of Chinese New Year. Lanterns, traditional ornaments, and intricate centerpieces created a warm and welcoming setting that immediately set the mood for a joyful celebration. We were fortunate to attend a special menu preview, showcasing the culinary treasures designed to welcome the Year of the Wood Snake.
Our feast began with a delectable assortment of dim sum, a staple that set the tone for the culinary journey ahead. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, crafted to perfection. Moving on to the main dishes, highlights included the savory Hokkien Udon with XO Sauce, a dish bursting with umami, and the Fried Prawns in Salted Egg Sauce. Of course, no Chinese New Year feast would be complete without the iconic Peking Duck, with its crispy skin and succulent meat—a dish that epitomizes celebration and indulgence.
In this festive celebration, they will also serve a Salmon Sashimi Yu Sheng Platter, assorted sushi, Double Fish Maw Soup, Crispy I Fu Mie, and, of course, the iconic Yee Sang, perfect for tossing prosperity and joy into the new year.
As the meal transitioned to desserts, the array was nothing short of spectacular. Vibrant Colorful Mochi immediately caught our attention, each bite a delightful combination of chewy textures and sweet fillings. The classic Nian Gao, with its sticky and sweet profile, stood as a wish for growth and success in the coming year. Complementing these traditional treats were an assortment of puddings, cakes, and other delightful confections, ensuring a sweet ending to an unforgettable feast.
Our experience was a celebration of flavors, traditions, and the joy of togetherness. Whether at Tian Jing Lou or Damai Restaurant, the Chinese New Year offerings at InterContinental Bandung Dago Pakar promise a festive culinary journey that truly honors the spirit of the season. This special celebration will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
