Joempa Restaurant at Hotel Indigo Bandung Dago Pakar invites diners to experience the familiar tastes of Indonesia, but with a fresh, innovative twist. The restaurant’s menu is a celebration of Indonesian fusion cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern techniques and global influences. Each dish is crafted to surprise and delight, honoring local ingredients while introducing unexpected elements that elevate classic Indonesian dishes.
The restaurant is divided into two areas: a cozy indoor space and a scenic terrace. We chose to dine indoors, surrounded by intricate art depicting nostalgic scenes—a child playing traditional games, a street vendor selling "Baso Tahu," a man performing with Wayang puppets, and other charming illustrations that celebrate local life. As we waited for our food, these details drew us deeper into Joempa’s story.
Our meal began with a sweet and spicy Sticky Tamarind Wings appetizer. For a chicken lover, this dish is a real treat, with juicy, tender meat that soaks up the bold tamarind flavors and spices in each bite. The sauce is rich and flavorful, setting a delicious tone for what’s to come. Next, we tried the Margarita Pizza—a simple yet satisfying choice that proves you can never go wrong with a classic. The thin crust, perfectly baked, complements the tangy, fresh tomato and basil topping.
For the main course, we couldn’t resist trying Joempa’s unique Salmon Tongseng. This dish embodies Joempa’s creative approach to food, blending traditional Indonesian flavors with modern twists. The tender salmon is simmered in a mildly spiced coconut milk broth, a fusion that balances the richness of tongseng with the delicate taste of salmon. Each bite is a delightful surprise, showcasing Joempa’s knack for reimagining Indonesian cuisine.
To end on a sweet note, we had Pavlova for dessert—a crisp meringue shell with a soft, marshmallow-like center, topped with fresh fruits. It’s a refreshing and light dessert that wraps up the meal beautifully.
Joempa’s drink menu is equally intriguing, offering a wide range of options from healthy juices to creative coffee concoctions and cocktails. We opted for the refreshing Es Bandung, a mix of rose syrup, fresh milk, and coconut cream. This drink is a delight, adding a touch of floral sweetness to the meal. Not stopping there, we also tried Ti Bandung, an innovative cold brew with Bajigur foam. This unexpected pairing works wonderfully, with the creamy, slightly spiced foam adding a mocha-like flavor to the coffee—a true Bandung twist.
Dining at Joempa is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that combines flavors, history, and ambiance, leaving you with a warm sense of nostalgia and satisfaction.
