Gaya Brasserie: Celebrating Authentic Indonesian Flavours in a Modern Vintage Style

Bandung's culinary scene is ever-evolving, with new spots constantly emerging for food lovers to explore. One such addition is Gaya Brasserie, a fresh dining destination that opened its doors in December 2023.

Situated on L. L. R.E. Martadinata, Gaya Brasserie boasts a luxurious and elegant ambiance while maintaining affordable prices. This makes it an accessible and enticing choice for anyone looking to enjoy a sophisticated dining experience without breaking the bank.

Gaya Brasserie

Stepping into Gaya Brasserie feels like being transported to two complementary eras. The vintage-style interior, beautifully blended with modern details, creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for anyone.

Gaya-front area

The front area is neatly arranged like a vintage lounge, complete with vinyl shelves, setting a nostalgic tone. The main dining area features a thoughtfully arranged dining table setup, along with cabinets and a half-circular sofa, designed for guests to socialize over a good meal. The use of rattan chairs further enhances the nostalgic impression. Adding to the charm, a modernly designed bar with splashes of colour and mood-lifting lighting is visible from the dining area.

Gaya-main dining area

The back area offers a semi-outdoor space perfect for relaxation. The backyard is aesthetically pleasing, with well-maintained grass, making it an ideal spot to unwind. Additionally, there is a VIP room that can accommodate up to 15 people and can be extended, providing ample space for private gatherings.

Despite its name suggesting a Western cuisine focus, Gaya Brasserie offers an array of delectable Indonesian dishes themed ‘Festive of Nusantara’. Under the guidance of Head Chef Bayan, the restaurant boasts a series of local dishes with authentic flavours that are a must-try.

Nasi Goreng Menteng

One standout dish is the Nasi Goreng Menteng, a comforting meal prepared with classic Indonesian spices. This curry-style fried rice features beef cubes, raisins, and a sunny-side-up egg, and is topped with emping crackers and pickles, delivering a rich and satisfying taste experience with a hint of Middle Eastern influence from the curry.

For a hearty combination of carbohydrates and protein, Ayam Rempah is an ideal choice. This dish features earthy kecombrang rice served with fried chicken, fried purple cabbage salad, sambal matah, sambal bawang, emping crackers, and chicken broth. Each element works harmoniously, with the savoury taste of the rice and the well-fried chicken complemented by the flavorful chicken broth crafted from ground galangal. The fried purple cabbage salad steals the spotlight, leaving you craving more.

Gaya-meals

If you're in the mood for red meat, the Iga Bakar Kemangi Dabu Dabu will satisfy your cravings. This dish includes grilled ribs served with white rice, dabu dabu sauce, basil, crispy eggplant, ribs broth, red chilli sauce, lemon, and emping crackers. The ribs are marinated to perfection, and the dabu dabu sauce adds a refreshing spicy kick that elevates the dish to the next level.

Gurame Rempah Kecombrang elevates your gurame cravings to the next level. The aromatic fried gurame is topped with spiced kecombrang sambal, enhancing its flavor profile. Accompanied by a fried purple cabbage salad, which adds a delightful texture, and a touch of zesty lemon, the dish delivers a refreshing and vibrant sensation that perfectly complements the gurame.

Hot Cajun Wings

Pair your meals with a side dish like the Hot Cajun Wings for a perfect match. Made from tender chicken wings, these wings are infused with a kick of flavour from a special Cajun sauce and accented with earthy notes from cilantro.

Es Pisang Ijo

To end on a sweet note, there's no better way to end it with the classic Es Pisang Ijo. Despite the chilly and windy weather of Bandung, the icy exotic Makassar-inspired dessert is irresistible. The soft banana slices encased in green flour dough are wonderfully pillowy and blend harmoniously with the extra sweetness from condensed milk, syrup, and pandan leaves. This delightful treat is perfect for sharing, making it a satisfying conclusion to your meal.

Gaya-drinks

When it comes to drinks, worry not. Gaya Brasserie offers several refreshing options to choose from. The invigorating Summer Time, concocted with watermelon, peach syrup, lychee, lemon juice, and mint syrup, is a great mood booster. Meanwhile, Ice Biduk Biduk, made with fresh milk, mango, dragon fruit, pakcoy, and mango boba, will transport you to a tropical paradise with its exotic flavors. It's creamy, refreshing, fun, and bursting with sweet delicate flavours.

Gaya-drinks

During a daily break, Gaya Brasserie embodies the perfect escape from the daily hustle. Unwind with their signature aromatic Pandan Coffee, known for its stress-relieving qualities. For a cooler option, try the Ice Cobar, a well-rounded drink that balances caffeine, sweetness, and creaminess with a great body.
