Loca Loka Tequila Makes Indonesian Debut With Bali Launch

Premium 100% Agave Brand Brings Mexican Craftsmanship and Cultural Storytelling to Indonesia.

Loca Loka, the globally acclaimed premium tequila brand merging Mexican terroir with Indian creative vision, officially launches in Indonesia this week with exclusive celebrations at the famed Origen Mexican Restaurant in Bali. Founded by Rana Daggubati, Anirudh Ravichander, and Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, the 100% agave brand continues to strengthen its presence across Southeast Asia. Following its Philippines launch earlier this month, Loca Loka now marks another strategic milestone with its debut in Indonesia.


Indonesia represents a natural next chapter for Loca Loka, with its fast-evolving luxury hospitality scene, thriving cocktail culture, and double-digit growth in the premium spirits segment. Urban, design-conscious consumers from South Jakarta's speakeasies to Seminyak's beachfront lounges increasingly seek brands that deliver authenticity, craftsmanship, and compelling narratives alongside exceptional liquid. Guests took part in interactive experiences such as Raspado caricatures, Cantarito painting, and Piñata activities as they explored the tequila through neat pours and crafted cocktails. Against the backdrop of the setting sun, music drifted through the venue, setting the tone for an evening that gave way to an effortless party vibe.

 


As the evening unfolded, Rajiv Ghumman, Global Business Head, Loca Loka, guided guests through a curated cocktail showcase, weaving together global inspirations, contemporary mixology, and the evolving culture around tequila. Speaking on the brand’s growing global journey, he added, "Indonesia's cocktail culture is evolving rapidly and there's a growing appreciation for spirits with real stories and meticulous craft. We are not chasing mass distribution across the world and that is the case here too. Crafted in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, under the guidance of third-generation master distiller Willy Bañuelos Ramírez, Loca Loka introduces Indonesian consumers to two award-winning expressions: Loca Loka Blanco and Loca Loka Reposado. Both artisanal variants  have won over critics in some of the most competitive markets, earning medals at prestigious awards across the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, New York International Spirits Competition, WSWA Wine & Spirits Tasting Competition, and most recently, Gold (Reposado) and Silver (Blanco) at the 2026 London Spirits Competition.


Moving effortlessly between pours and storytelling, Willy Bañuelos Ramírez, Third-Generation Master Distiller & Head of Production, Hacienda de Bañuelos, immersed guests in the world of agave and as he shared the artistry and generational expertise behind Loca Loka Tequila, he said, “"Great tequila should taste like where it comes from.  At Loca Loka, authenticity means patience, which usually means – a six to eight years for agave to mature, slow roasting in brick ovens, natural fermentation and careful oak aging. No additives, no artificial color, no shortcuts that compromise flavor. When someone in Indonesia pours our Blanco or Reposado, they're tasting highland agave as it was meant to be experienced: honest, complex, and rooted in generations of knowledge. That's the kind of drink worth sharing."

 


The brand's name reflects its cross-cultural identity: Loca (Spanish for "crazy") meets Loka (Sanskrit for "world"). Every bottle honors natural agave complexity through traditional tahona milling, brick oven roasting, and thoughtful barrel maturation in French and American oak which is a modern tribute to old-world tequila artistry that resonates with Indonesia's appreciation for heritage craftsmanship.


The Indonesia launch follows successful international rollouts across the United States (now expanding to 25 states), Singapore, Philippines and India, with structured entries planned for the UK, UAE, Australia, and Europe throughout 2026. The brand secured USD $12.5 million in Series A funding from a Singapore family office in March 2025, accelerating global distribution infrastructure.
