Demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection successfully conducted a Beach Clean-Up at Segara Ayu Beach, on Saturday, 7th February 2026, in collaboration with the Bali Hotel Association (BHA).
The initiative was attended by Mr. I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa, Deputy Mayor of Denpasar, together with the team of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, as well as members of the local community. The beach clean-up was also supported by Bali Beach Cleaning Bali, which contributed through the use of specialized beach cleaning equipment, including The Baby Tapiro, the most compact machine in the CFC range, equipped with a sieving system designed to collect extremely fine materials. This technology is engineered to remove micro-particles along the shoreline, ensuring the beach remains clean and safe for the marine ecosystem.
Additional equipment was deployed, including sand-levelling machinery to smooth and level the beach surface, as well as manual screening sieves from Bali Beach Cleaning Bali. These tools are particularly effective in accessing steep or hard-to-reach areas and in removing heavy or sharp objects, such as dried coral, to ensure visitor safety. As a tangible show of support, Bali Beach Cleaning Bali also deployed four staff members to participate in the beach clean-up actively, further strengthening the collaborative effort to protect and preserve Bali’s coastal environment.
Throughout the activity, a total of 10 kilograms of waste were collected along Segara Ayu Beach. This collaboration underscored the importance of collective action in protecting the shoreline and preserving the marine ecosystem. The waste collected included glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles and packaging, cigarette butts, and rubber-based materials. All waste was subsequently sorted into categories by waste management experts working in collaboration with “The Sanur” Special Economic Zone, before being processed through responsible sorting and recycling procedures.
Highlighting the company’s commitment, Ed Brea, General Manager of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, stated, “Located within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Health and Wellness, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection are committed to integrating sustainability and wellness into every aspect of ouroperations. Our participation in this beach clean-up represents a tangible expression of our commitment to protecting marine ecosystem, while strengthening collaboration with local government and communities towards more sustainable environment.”
This CSR initiative forms part of the ongoing sustainability programs of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, reaffirming their dedication to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and the promotion of responsible tourism in Bali.
