One meaningful expression of this philosophy is our ongoing collaboration with the Subak Desa Padang Tegal community surrounding Alaya Resort Ubud.

Together with the local Subak community, Alaya continues to support the preservation of productive rice fields that remain an important part of Ubud's cultural landscape. More than maintaining a scenic environment, this shared commitment helps ensure that traditional farming practices, local livelihoods, and the values carried through generations continue to thrive alongside the development of tourism.

For us, Subak represents far more than an irrigation system. It is a living expression of Tri Hita Karana, where harmony between nature, community, and spirituality continues to shape everyday life in Bali. It reminds us that sustainability is not about standing still, but about growing responsibly while respecting the heritage that already exists.

Our commitment extends beyond the rice fields.

Through Alaya Grounds, we continue to create opportunities for local culinary entrepreneurs and community-based businesses to grow together within a space that celebrates the character of Ubud. Across our properties, we embrace responsible operational practices, support local artisans and suppliers, celebrate Balinese arts and traditions, reduce our environmental footprint, and create meaningful opportunities for surrounding communities.
