With full support from the finest craftsmen from various industries, I Kadek Sumiarta, a young and talented culinarian at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, conquered the world stage and claimed third place in the prestigious global Young Talents Escoffier competition held in Paris this November. This remarkable achievement is accompanied by an additional special prize for his efficiency in waste and water management, energy control, and mastery of technical gestures during the competition. These accolades underscore his commitment to excellence and sustainability, setting a powerful start to his culinary career while making a powerful impact for Indonesia on the world stage.
Throughout his journey leading to the competition, Kadek received tremendous supports from the resort’s award-winning chefs as his mentors, colleagues across the resort, and valued partners with aligned vision. Focusing on sharpening his skills and strengthening his mental readiness, Kadek was directly mentored by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France Cuisine (1996) Chef Jean-Yves Leuranguer, who won one of the highest honours for culinary experts and the highly-acclaimed Chef Ho Weng Kit who has won more than thirty prestigious awards across Asia and Europe.
