Like intrepid explorers, we ventured into a realm where luxury merged seamlessly with artistry, and where hidden treasures awaited at every turn. This is the story of an extraordinary three-day sojourn, where aesthetic wonders, culinary adventures, and breathtaking vistas converged to create a tapestry of memories that will forever grace the pages of our wanderlust-filled hearts.

Day 1: A Marvelous Welcome

As we stepped into the enchanting realm of Renaissance Nusa Dua Resort, a delightful vibe embraced us, igniting our senses with anticipation. The term "navigate" took on a whole new meaning here, as our stay unfolded like a captivating voyage, filled with surprises and treasures waiting to be discovered.

Our abode for this memorable retreat was the Deluxe King Sea View, a true testament to aesthetic perfection. Every detail was meticulously crafted to pay homage to the island's rich heritage, seamlessly blending it with the contemporary allure of modern art. Intriguing Balinese mask patterns adorned the ceiling, while the innovative "Balinese dancer's head" gobo light cast its mesmerizing glow. The walls, adorned with soothing turquoise accents and decorative ceramics, exuded a sense of tranquility. Not to be overlooked were the iconic three-piece "eye lamps" that added a touch of intrigue to the space. And at the heart of it all, an exquisite freestanding ivory bathtub commanded attention. But it was the view that stole our breath away. Stepping onto the balcony, we were greeted by a breathtaking panorama of the azure ocean, stretching beyond the resort's three iconic pools below. The weather gifted us with crystal-clear nights, allowing us to witness the rare spectacle of not one, but two full red moons. Such surreal beauty heightened our sense of fulfillment during this idyllic escape.

Before we could fully immerse ourselves in the luxurious comfort of our room, we were treated to a magnificent culinary journey at Lion X, one of Renaissance Nusa Dua's upscale establishments. This contemporary Chinese restaurant boasted innovative offerings, intertwining traditional Dim Sum with Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines, each adorned with a modern twist. Stepping into the restaurant, we were instantly captivated by its elegant yet eclectic interior. A symphony of black hues and a striking Barongsai mural on the entrance's brick wall created a mesmerizing ambiance. Our taste buds were then whisked away on a Dragon Brunch adventure, indulging in an array of unlimited Dim Sum variants. From the steamed delights of "Siew Mai" and "Xiao Long Bao" to the crispy temptations of shrimp wontons and vegetable spring rolls, each bite transported us to culinary bliss. As we savored these delectable delicacies, the staff manning the dim sum cart donned a full yellow Bruce Lee tracksuit, adding a delightful touch of theatricality to the experience! And to complete the authentic journey, we sipped hot Chinese tea, a perfect accompaniment to the feast before us.

With our palates still dancing with delight, we embraced the afternoon, reveling in the embrace of our magnificent room until dinner time beckoned us to another culinary affair. This time, it was Backstage, a dining venue that embodied the essence of a theater, with a twist. Here, the concept of "backstage" took center stage, enveloping us in an atmosphere with unfinished brick walls adorned with vibrant graffiti. Cassette tapes acted as whimsical signposts on each table, exuding a vintage and unique charm that seamlessly melded with the upscale dining experience. As we perused the menu, we couldn't help but marvel at its clever alignment with the restaurant's central theme. Sections were aptly named Box Office, Orchestra, and, cheekily, "The Main Stage" presented the main dishes. The culinary journey spanned from Western classics like Chicken Popcorn and Center Stage Burger to tantalizing Indonesian delights like Ikan Bakar Nusa Dua, showcasing the region's distinct grilled fish, and the refreshing indulgence of Es Campur. Each dish tantalized our taste buds, with the burger's succulent and juicy patty, the Ikan Bakar's delicate and flavorsome gindara fillet, and the Es Campur's stylish presentation, combining coconut ice cream and grenadine syrup in a whiskey glass.

As the night wore on, we found ourselves drawn once again to the mesmerizing view from our balcony. The moon, radiant and unobstructed by clouds, cast its ethereal glow upon the clear night sky. It was a sublime sight, a poignant reminder of the greatness yet to unfold during our enchanting three-day sojourn.

Day 2: A Gastronomic Journey and Beachside Bliss

We awoke to a morning filled with culinary delights, as Backstage beckoned us with an enticing breakfast spread. From an array of fresh fruits and delightful pastries to classic Western favorites like crispy bacon strips, and Asian-inspired dishes from Indonesia and India, the menu tantalized our taste buds. We found ourselves spoiled for choice, with options that catered to every palate. The thoughtful presentation extended to the beverage selection, with fresh juices elegantly served in glass bottles, and a variety of granola and cereal accompanied by four different types of milk and yogurt. It was a breakfast fit for royalty, a feast that set the tone for a day brimming with epicurean adventures.

As the sun reached its zenith, we embarked on a unique culinary experience that transported us to a private beach in the ITDC area. A shuttle whisked us away to a picturesque stretch of sand where green-tinted sunbeds nestled beneath the shade of towering trees. The resort's iconic Atomic 17 truck awaited, ready to quench our thirst with refreshing drinks. The setting was simply breathtaking. However, it was the menu that truly captivated us. Departing from a heavy fare, the lunch offered a delightful array of light and healthy "bowl" creations. Prawn Mango & Avocado Bowl, Mango Smoothie Bowl, and Guacamole Bowl beckoned, showcasing the resort's commitment to thoughtfully crafted cuisine. Despite having indulged in a sumptuous breakfast, we found these bowls to be the perfect palate cleansers, allowing us to savor the flavors without feeling overwhelmed. Renaissance Nusa Dua had once again surprised us with their inventive approach, ensuring that every dining experience was a journey in itself.

In the afternoon, we had the privilege of participating in an authentic cooking class led by the talented Chef Boga of Tanah Liat. Upon our arrival, a dedicated butler greeted us and escorted us to the kitchen table, where a colorful array of fresh ingredients awaited. We were provided with aprons and gloves, ready to immerse ourselves in the art of Balinese cuisine.

Chef Boga revealed that the green ingredients were sourced from their very own garden adjacent to the Tanah Liat restaurant, assuring us of their organic freshness and quality. The menu we cooked in this class was Sate Lilit, a tantalizing skewer of white snapper fish infused with the aromatic spices of the Balinese "Bumbu Genep." Chef Boga guided us through each step; from cutting the “Bumbu Genep” ingredients, grinding the ingredients with traditional ‘ulekan’ (mortal and pestle), placing the meat on the bamboo stick, and mixing it with the grilled “Bumbu Genep” spices, to the grilling process. Immediately after that, we get to enjoy our creation. Grilled to perfection, each bite of the Sate Lilit was a revelation of flavors, and we relished the ten skewers served alongside three authentic sambal sauces and fragrant white rice.

After a brief break, we returned to Tanah Liat for our evening meal, and once again, Chef Boga and his team astounded us. The restaurant showcased locally sourced, seasonal seafood and plant-based cuisine presented with artistic flair. The entree, Extra Virgin Olive Oil Compressed Watermelon, delighted our senses with its freshness and intriguing combination of rosewater apple, peanut crumble, and chili tamarind sorbet. The main course, Kedonganan Market, transformed seafood into a culinary masterpiece, with grilled tuna, crispy soft crab, scallops, squid, Kintamani grape reduction, and Balinese relish melding together in a symphony of sour, sweet, creamy, and crunchy sensations. For dessert, the Green Cheese Cake danced on our palates, blending tanginess with creamy indulgence. Accompanied by the restaurant's finest drinks, including the signature Tanah Liat Zombie, the evening concluded with a crescendo of flavors, leaving us utterly enchanted.

As the sun began its descent, we retreated to our idyllic room, knowing that the bright full moon awaited us on the balcony. The second day of our stay at Renaissance Nusa Dua had been a gastronomic journey, a celebration of culinary artistry that left our hearts and taste buds yearning for more.

Day 3: A Fond Farewell

As the final day of our extraordinary stay at Renaissance Nusa Dua dawned, we embarked on a culinary voyage once again at Backstage. We savored every dish we hadn't yet experienced, ensuring that our taste buds reveled in the full spectrum of flavors. The dedicated "Egg Station" delighted us with its tasty creations, with a special mention of the irresistible cheese scramble eggs that stole our hearts. Breakfast at Backstage was the perfect send-off, a reminder of the impeccable attention to detail that had defined our entire stay. At precisely 12 pm, we completed the check-out process, taking one last wistful glance at the resort that had become our haven of bliss over the past three days. We departed with a sense of accomplishment as if we had conquered every moment of our stay, savoring each treasure it had bestowed upon us.

As we concluded our tale of this extraordinary sojourn, we closed a chapter of our lives filled with vibrant flavors, breathtaking views, and the warm embrace of Renaissance Nusa Dua. It was a farewell that carried a promise—a promise to return, to once again immerse ourselves in the delights and wonders that awaited us at this remarkable resort. Renaissance Nusa Dua left an indelible mark on our hearts, a testament to its status as a haven for those seeking the perfect blend of luxury, artistry, and unforgettable experiences.
