Day 1: Arrival and Enchantment
As we arrived and checked in, we were immediately captivated by the warm Balinese hospitality and modern decor of the lobby that set the tone for our getaway. Our accommodations included an King Standard Ocean View Top Floor conveniently located on the fifth floor, providing a spectacular vantage point of the immaculate Batu Bolong Beach. The breathtaking views from our room, especially at sunset, truly defined our stay. As the day transitioned into evening, we were treated to a stunning sunset cocktail session, where the sky transformed into an immaculate velvet canvas, sweeping across the horizon with vibrant hues that perfectly complemented the tranquil atmosphere.
Canang Sari Making
One of the most fascinating activities we participated in was Canang Sari Making. Guided by local staff, we engaged in this intricate and immersive cultural experience, learning the significance of Canang Sari, a traditional Balinese offering made from an array of flowers. The meticulous process involved making the base, known as Mejejaitan, and decorating it with flowers, arranged in four distinct colors. Each step allowed us to connect with Balinese culture, making it a must-try activity during our stay.
Cocktail Class and Sunset Session at the Rooftop Pool
After our cultural immersion, we attended a Cocktail Class at the resort's rooftop pool, which provided the perfect setting for a fun and educational experience. The class included step-by-step instructions on mixing two of the resort's signature cocktails: PingPong and Spicy RumChum. The refreshing PingPong cocktail, a delightful blend of lychee, passion fruit, elderflower syrup, lemon juice, passion puree, and vodka, was easy to enjoy. In contrast, the Spicy RumChum, with its complex flavors of chopped Lombok, lemon juice, mango juice, elderflower syrup, and rum, presented a more intricate tasting experience.
After the cocktail class, we indulged in a Sunset Cocktail session, where we ordered some of the bar's finest concoctions while soaking in the breathtaking views from the rooftop. The sunset was nothing short of magical, as the sky transformed into a stunning display of velvet colors, sweeping across the horizon of Batu Bolong Beach. With each sip of our expertly crafted cocktails, we felt the chill vibe of the rooftop pool bar, making it the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The combination of exquisite drinks and a picturesque sunset truly solidified Holiday Inn Canggu as the ultimate destination for enjoying the beauty of Canggu’s shoreside.
Dinner at Roomah
Dinner that evening was nothing short of spectacular at Roomah, the hotel’s eclectic dining space. With its opulent decor, high ceilings, and a menu crafted by Executive Chef Suhaimi Atas, we were excited to indulge in a variety of dishes. We began with Turmeric Lentil Soup, which offered a healthy, rich flavor, paired beautifully with crunchy garlic croutons. The Arabic Cold Mezze platter was a delightful assortment of Middle Eastern delights, including hummus and baba ganoush, served with crunchy pita bread.
For our main courses, we savored the Lemon Butter Skillet Chicken, perfectly grilled and accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and kale, and the Kung Pao Chicken, bursting with flavor from the deep-fried chicken and aromatic spices. To conclude our meal, we enjoyed two exquisite desserts: the Salted Caramel Banana, a delightful baked banana caramel with ginger and vanilla, and the Mandarin Baked Cheesecake, featuring a creamy cheesecake with strawberry coulis. With an impressive selection of cocktails and mocktails available, including the refreshing Smokey Basil cocktail and the revitalizing Kiwi Cooler, our dining experience was a highlight of our stay.
Day 2: A Relaxing Start and More Culinary Delights
We began our second day with breakfast at Roomah, choosing from the extensive all-you-can-eat buffet and à la carte menu. The options were plentiful, featuring international and regional selections. We were treated to two of the restaurant's special breakfast offerings: Chicken Frittata and Dumplings, both delicious surprises that made our morning even more delightful.
After a leisurely breakfast, we enjoyed some more time in our cozy room before checking out. We couldn’t resist indulging in another lunch at Roomah before leaving. The Fish and Chips, featuring tempura-battered fish served with mushy peas and tartar sauce, and the Nasi Goreng Kampoeng Nelayan, a flavorful seafood fried rice dish, were fantastic. We washed it all down with refreshing whole coconuts, perfectly encapsulating the tropical vibes of our stay.
Our experience at Holiday Inn Bali Canggu was incredibly comfortable and pampering, making us feel right at home away from home. The resort successfully showcased the best of Canggu's shoreside charm, and we left with unforgettable memories and a desire to return.
