On Thursday 5 June, What’s New Bali had the pleasure of joining the buzz at Hyatt Regency Bali’s vibrant Bar Takeover, hosted by none other than Bali Boozy’s aspiring mixologist, Borty Jesika. Held at the resort’s beachfront Pizzaria restaurant with Sanur’s breezy shoreline setting the scene, this laid-back yet lively soirée served up everything from golden-hour ocean views to sourdough-fired pizza and knockout arak-based cocktails. We kicked off Thursday, 5 June, in true island style at Pizzaria, Hyatt Regency Bali’s beachfront Italian gem, where Bali Boozy’s star mixologist Borty Jesika took over the bar with a tropical twist. From 5 to 8 PM, we lounged beachside with cocktails in hand—feet in the sand, breeze in our hair, and bli Borty's arak-based creations in full swing. The setting? Absolute seaside bliss. The Bar Takeover stall was perfectly perched along Sanur’s beach-paved road, with the sun dipping into the ocean just beyond.
Of course, we dove headfirst into the cocktails, starting with the night’s scene-stealer: Manusia Pulau 2.0—a dreamy mix of Siren lychee, guava, pineapple, coconut, pandan, lime, and CO2 that literally vanished before dark (yes, it sold out). Other favorites like Bali Bestie, Kebun Raya Bedugul, and Citrus Gang had us riding waves of fruity, fizzy goodness. Pair that with a spread of comforting Italian bites—prawns in garlic butter, crispy fritto misto, and wood-fired pizzas like Carnivoro and Adriatica—and you’ve got yourself a flavor-packed seaside soirée.
The night was more than just a cocktail party—it was a fizzy, flavorful teaser for the Road to Bali Cocktail Festival, which has just kicked off this weekend (6–8 June) at ATLAS! If Hyatt Regency Bali’s Bar Takeover was anything to go by, festival-goers are in for a wild, delicious ride. As for Pizzaria? It’s officially Sanur’s go-to not just for wood-fired pizza and sunset views, but now also for cocktails that seriously raise the bar—pun very much intended.
