DAY ONE

Arrival and the Impressive Lagoon Pool Suite

Upon arrival we were welcomed with warm smiles and a seamless check in. Soon after, we stepped into the Impressive Lagoon Pool Suite and immediately felt embraced by comfort and contemporary elegance. The 61 square meter suite feels spacious and thoughtfully designed. A full glass wall connects the indoor environment with the outdoor terrace, letting in natural light throughout the day.

The terrace features a cozy nest daybed and double sun loungers that lead to direct Lagoon Pool access. This pool is one of Maya Sanur’s signature highlights, stretching gracefully through the property and creating a serene blue line that connects many of the suites. Being able to step straight from our room into the water added an intimate and indulgent touch to our stay. The suite accommodates up to four adults with options for a king bed or two doubles, and the dedicated butler service made us feel well taken care of.

Afternoon Tea at Tree Bar

At 4 PM we settled into Tree Bar for their Indonesian inspired afternoon tea. The venue is open air with a relaxing ocean breeze flowing through. The soundscape of waves, distant chatter, and rustling palms set the tone for a tranquil break. We were served a selection of local delights: getuk, fish cake, timus, sambal matah, and refreshing iced jamu selections including Bir Pletok and Bandrek. Each treat had its own charm, but the timus truly stood out with its soft cassava texture that carried a sweet and delicate flavor. Tree Bar also had a cotton candy crafting station that drew curious families and happy children. The combination of beachfront scenery, playful energy, and flavorful snacks created a wonderful afternoon experience.

Strolling Along Sanur Beach

After tea we took advantage of the perfect weather and walked along Sanur Beach’s iconic paved pathway. The area is known for its calm and clean atmosphere. Cyclists ring their bicycle bells as they pass, locals take leisurely jogs, and visitors enjoy the breeze while looking out at traditional jukung boats floating on gentle waters. There is a timeless charm to Sanur that encourages us to slow down and appreciate simple moments.

Romantic BBQ Dinner at the Ceremonial Plaza

As the sun set we arrived at the resort's Ceremonial Plaza for our romantic dinner. This waterfront wooden deck sits elevated above the shoreline and serves as one of the resort’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Surrounded by lush tropical greens and far from noise, the setting felt private and serene. Our table was decorated beautifully with flower petals, crisp white linens, and candlelight. A dedicated chef and server attended to us which added a personal touch that elevated the entire dinner.

The menu consisted of nine courses. We began with Brown Butter Hummus, Oyster Tempura, Arancini, and Lobster Bisque. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail and tasted wonderful. For the main highlight, the BBQ platters arrived with three stars of the evening. The Australian Striploin Beef was tender and paired with chimichurri and parmesan polenta chips. The Charred Jumbo Prawns were complemented by dukkah baby carrots and crunchy chilli oil that brought a delightful combination of textures. The Grilled Salmon came with a truffle mushroom sauce that added depth and fragrance. We ended with Blueberry Pavlova and Classic Tiramisu. Combined with the candlelit ambiance and soft sound of waves below, the evening felt perfect for couples seeking intimacy and a memorable dining moment.

DAY TWO

Floating Breakfast in the Infinity Pool

The next morning we experienced the floating breakfast in the resort’s infinity pool. The presentation was picturesque with a range of signature dishes, fresh juice, coffee, and tea arranged neatly on a floating tray. Since the infinity pool is shared, we did see other guests passing by, but the experience still felt special. The view of the tall palm trees and the calmness of the water around us created a soothing start to the day.

Lunch at Rue

By midday we headed to Rue, located on the street side within the resort area. It offers a casual and artsy atmosphere with a playful mix of wood, stone textures, curated décor, and a pinkish sofa that adds warmth to the interior. The indoor seating is fully air conditioned, comfortable, and well suited for families since it includes a small kids’ corner and a merchandise stall featuring original designs. For snacks we ordered the Skillet Nachos and Sweet and Sour Potato Wedges. The nachos had a vibrant combination of capsicum relish, jalapenos, creamy cheese sauce, crunchy elements, and a pop of lime. The potato wedges had an irresistible homemade coating paired with sour cream and sweet chili sauce.

The pizza offerings were described as small, but the portions were generous with eight appetizing slices. The Gloria Roma had tomato sugo, ham, basil pesto, and tomato confit that created a rich and comforting flavor profile. We also ordered the Grandma Roasted Chicken. The roasted chicken was tender and paired beautifully with truffle mashed potatoes, basil oil, mustard sauce, and pickled mustard seeds. Desserts brought sweetness in its purest form. The Creme Brulee was creamy with caramelized Bali brown sugar on top. The sorbet selection had a refreshing raspberry and passion fruit duo that tasted natural and handmade. For drinks we explored the Hydration and Bean and Leaf Fusion sections. The Detox blend mixed beetroot, apple, and ginger, while the Protein Shake combined banana, milk, dates, and vanilla into a fulfilling drink.

Spa at Maya

In the afternoon we ventured into The Spa at Maya. A gentle pond and tall trees frame the entrance, and a magnificent tree stretches horizontally across the pathway, encouraging guests to bow slightly as they pass underneath. Wrapped in Saput Poleng cloth, this beautiful tree stands as a symbol of balance, respect, and harmony with nature. The moment we stepped inside, we felt transported into a secluded sanctuary where tranquility truly reigns.

We chose the 90 minute Deep Tissue Massage, a therapeutic treatment designed to reach the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is ideal for easing chronic pain and long standing tension. Our skilled therapists applied firm pressure with slow and deliberate strokes that worked through the innermost layers, breaking down adhesions and promoting natural healing. The massage melted away stiffness, improved mobility, and softened the stress we had been carrying throughout the week. After the massage, we slipped into a 30 minute Flower Bath that elevated the entire experience. The warm water was filled with fragrant tropical flowers that gently perfumed the air. This serene ritual is crafted to soothe the senses, calm the mind, and give the body a moment to absorb the nourishing qualities of the blossoms. The bath left our skin soft and refreshed, and the lingering floral aroma added a beautiful finish to our wellness journey.

Dinner at Tree Bar

For dinner we returned to Tree Bar, this time opting for the second floor with views of the beach. We ordered the Super Food Bowl which combined hummus, roasted pumpkin, broccoli, halloumi, red beans, and fresh herbs. The Red Snapper Croquetas were crispy and delicious with aioli. For mains we tried the Smashed Burger with double patties and smoky scarmoza, along with Fish and Chips that had a perfect light batter reminiscent of London style fish shops.

Desserts were a true highlight. The Choco Crepes arrived with Valrhona chocolate ganache and crunchy cashew praline. The Bali Lemon Meringue Tart by Nanda impressed us with its jelly like texture, tangy sweetness, caramelized sugar, and luscious cream. Its international award recognition felt well deserved. After dinner we walked along the beach promenade once more. The gently lit pathway, hanging lamps, and shimmering ocean reflections created a dreamy atmosphere that captured the essence of Sanur at night.

DAY THREE

Morning Yoga and Breakfast at Mayasari

Our final morning began with a Sun Salutation Yoga session on the same Ceremonial Plaza where we had our romantic dinner on day one. Practicing Surya Namaskar sequences under the warm morning light felt serene. The ocean breeze added freshness and clarity, and the elevated platform created a calming vantage point over the surroundings.

We continued with breakfast at Mayasari Restaurant. The venue sits right beside the beach with indoor and alfresco areas, plus floating gazebos that move gently with the breeze. Breakfast included sourdough and ciabatta, pastries, waffles, dim sum, noodles, porridge, fresh fruits, yoghurts, sausages, bacon, and other comforting favorites. The memorable part was of course the morning view of Sanur Beach with joggers, cyclists, and traditional 'jukung' boats passing by.

We checked out feeling grateful for a stay filled with comfort, culinary delights, nature, and moments of calm. Maya Sanur blends luxury with the peaceful charm of Sanur, making it an ideal escape for couples, families, and travelers seeking a serene coastal retreat. The memories of this weekend linger, leaving us refreshed, inspired, and eager to return for another unforgettable staycation bliss.
