Two decades of luxury hospitality deserve a celebration, but Bvlgari Resort Bali chose to mark its 20th anniversary with something beyond the usual festivities. Turning the spotlight towards the island's younger generation, the iconic cliffside resort brought together Balinese heritage, children's creativity, and a charitable initiative that gives back to communities across Indonesia.
In collaboration with Save the Children Indonesia and supported by Bank BRI, the resort invited 20 Balinese children aged six to twelve to explore their emotions through Kamasan painting, one of Bali's oldest artistic traditions. The result was a collection of 20 colourful artworks, each telling a personal story through the eyes of a child.
The paintings made their public debut on 23 September 2026, coinciding with the resort's official anniversary, in an intimate exhibition held inside The Bvlgari Chapel. More than an artistic showcase, the exhibition also introduced a charitable element, allowing guests and art enthusiasts to adopt the paintings, with every contribution going directly to Save the Children Indonesia.
A creative journey inspired by Balinese heritage
The experience began with a special weekend hosted by the resort's Little Gems Clvb. Children from local primary schools enjoyed a treasure hunt around the property before taking part in activities focused on emotional awareness and creative expression.
The highlight unfolded in the resort's Mansion, where the young participants discovered the intricate world of Kamasan painting.
Originating from Kamasan village in Klungkung, this classical Balinese art form has been passed down through generations for more than 400 years. Traditionally recognised for its detailed storytelling, distinctive figures, and natural pigments, Kamasan painting remains an important part of Bali's cultural identity.

For this occasion, Kamasan master Made Sesangka prepared a series of outlined paintings inspired by five universal emotions: happiness, sadness, fear, surprise, and anger. Rather than following traditional colour conventions, the children were encouraged to bring their own interpretations to the artworks.
With guidance from Save the Children Indonesia, each participant explored the connection between colours and feelings, transforming the traditional illustrations into personal expressions. Although the children worked with the same five emotional themes, no two interpretations were alike.
More than an art exhibition
Beyond introducing a traditional art form to a younger generation, the programme also addressed an important subject: children's emotional wellbeing.
Expressing feelings is not always easy, particularly for young children who may struggle to put their experiences into words. Creative activities such as painting can offer an alternative outlet, helping them recognise emotions and communicate them in a comfortable, engaging environment.

The initiative also extended its impact beyond the canvas. With support from Bank BRI, each participating child received a BRIZZI card and a BRI Junio savings account with an initial deposit, introducing them to the importance of saving from an early age.
For Bvlgari Resort Bali, the occasion reflected a longstanding relationship with the island and its communities. The resort's partnership with Save the Children spans 17 years, making the anniversary another chapter in its ongoing commitment to supporting children.
Twenty paintings, twenty stories, one meaningful purpose
The completed collection was unveiled at The Bvlgari Chapel on 23 September 2026, offering a glimpse into the imagination and emotional world of each young artist.
Every painting was made available for adoption, with 100% of the proceeds allocated to Save the Children Indonesia's humanitarian pool fund. The fund supports emergency relief for children affected by natural disasters throughout Indonesia, helping deliver essential assistance when it is needed most.
By connecting an enduring Balinese art tradition with the voices of a new generation, Bvlgari Resort Bali's anniversary celebration became something more lasting than a milestone event.
Twenty years on, the resort's story continues to be intertwined with the island it calls home, this time told through 20 young artists, their colourful interpretations, and a shared purpose that reaches far beyond Bali.
