More than 9.000 people from Jakarta and Makassar have attended the 2023 Japanese Film Festival. Citizens of Bandung and the surrounding local areas can soon enjoy a diverse selection of Japanese films of many genres.
The Indonesian Japanese Film Festival 2023 will soon be heading towards its third stop, which is Bandung city. Located in CGV 23 Paskal Shopping Center, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of 15 Japanese movies, starting 8-10 December 2023, with tickets priced at Rp 25.000 per screening.
The cream of the crop for this year’s selection of films include, Japan Academy Film Prize-winning film A MAN, and MONSTER directed by KORE-EDA Hirokazu, a viewer-favorite in many countries after receiving Best Screenplay (SAKAMOTO Yuji) at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Not to be missed is Perfect Days by Wim Wenders which also won an award at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Actor (KOJI Yakusho) and Prize of the Ecumenical Jury (Wim Wenders). Perfect Days also represented Japan for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
Straying off the drama genre, a comedy film titled MONDAYS: See “you” this week! shines through, not only attracting a large amount of viewers, but also receiving overwhelmingly positive reception from the crowd. Films starring talented Japanese actors and actresses should not be missed as well– HIROSE Suzu in the film THE WATER FLOWS TO THE SEA, and SUDA Masaki in We Made a Beautiful Bouquet and Father of the Milkyway Railroad are this year’s absolute must-watch acts!
