BANDUNG, JULY 2023 - de Braga by ARTOTEL, in collaboration with Galih Hermawan, is hosting a solo art exhibition called "Foamility". The exhibition will take place on the first, second, and third floors of de Braga by ARTOTEL, located at Jalan Braga no. 10. Foamility will be on display from July 6th to July 31st, 2023.
Foamility offers a unique experience as Galih Hermawan's artworks are not presented on canvas but on foam. Inspired by the works of John Chamberlain, Galih initially used foam in his creations. In his creative process, he combines foam with polyurethane, which yields unique characteristics. On one hand, it follows the elasticity of foam to a certain extent, and on the other hand, the final form of polyurethane has contrasting qualities to foam.
Galih Hermawan's artworks are deeply influenced by his personal experiences from childhood until now. For instance, his habit of making DIY toys with his father serves as a foundation for his enjoyment of shaping and working with materials, especially foam, to achieve the desired form. His affinity for animated films also influences his choice of colors for the polyurethane. Galih selects vibrant colors reminiscent of those found in his favorite childhood animated films and cartoons. These colors are currently a significant trend in artworks with a pop culture vibe.
Reza Farhan, the General Manager of de Braga by ARTOTEL, added, "During this school holiday period, where hotels are popular among families as an alternative for vacation, de Braga by ARTOTEL aims to present unique artworks that repurpose waste materials and transform them into captivating creations with cheerful colors."
